Danny O’Connor faced Gabriel Bracero on October 10, 2015 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts. The fight was broadcast live on NBCSN as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.
This was the second time O’Connor and Bracero would meet in the ring. Their first battle was on April 8, 2011. It was an 8-round bout that ended in a unanimous decision victory for Bracero. O’Connor was looking for redemption in this fight.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as he had planned. The fight was scheduled for 10 rounds, however just 41 seconds into the very first round, Bracero landed a blistering counter right hand that sent O’Connor limply to the canvas. The fight was over.
Bracero, who is not known for his knock-out power, surprised everyone with this outcome. Out of his 24 professional fights to date, he has only has 5 knock-outs to speak of. Bracero’s record following his win against O’Connor is now 24-2.

funny the way things work. O'connor was originally scheduled to fight Pauli Malignaggi but magic man got injured. O'connor then went for the rematch with Bracero. a fight he was completely exposed and dominated in the first time around . when they first met they each were 14-0, with Bracero winning unanimously . So O'connor takes this fight and essentially has his career ended in 41 seconds. Months later Bracero runs from police, knocks one cop out, and guns are found in his car. certainly going away for atleast 5 years . O'connor could still be boxing if this fight didn't happen. But it's clear Bracero had his number, and I wouldn't even reach to call Bracero a world class fighter . When you build a good record fighting soup cans , eventually you get tested and fail.

Danny has come back to become the WBC Intercontinental Silver Super Lightweight Title, whatever that means. Bracero fought Paulie Malignaggi and lost, no other fights.
It sure looked to me that O’Connor was not sure of himself before the fight started. Very tentative and even a little afraid. His jab was weak and looking amateurish as he came out.
