  1. Can you add your opinion on the rumor's I am hearing about Eric Karlson coming to Edmonton in the off season.

  2. It would be interesting to have Mike Smith as the next goalie coach. Skinner was his replacement during stretches over the two seasons before the current season while Smith recovered from injuries, and Skinner was chosen as last year's playoff back-up over Koskinen. So Skinner would have some familiarity with Smith, and Campbell could use some pointers as well.

  3. maybe a year ago i remember you mentioning mike smith to become goalie coach to replace Dustin Schwartz. it would be intresting and i would hope it would work out

  4. Steve Staois for GM will Defiantly be a Option for Oilers and Holland will be as President on his final year in his contract.

  5. Thanks for another great year of content Patrick!….Thought it didnt end as happy as we all wanted but there is always next year…lol again thanks for all the time and effort you put into "The Oiler Fanatic" have a great summer.

  6. I can see some major changes coming. The thing that scares me is the changes that are coming to come

  7. I have been saying for 2yrs that Mike Smith would be a great goalie coach and mentor. Look at some of the goalies that have gone through the club and have left only to become better on other teams. We ran into one in Brossoit. Dubs became a legit starter when he left. Talbot is another. Just my opinion. Keep up the great intel Patrick.

  8. I think putting in Staios might piss off Keith no doubt. I would like those changes but I'm still unhappy with the way Jay tried to manage the games this playoffs…

    Thanks for the season man!

  9. Why can’t they do a proper search rather than always hiring internally and or friends or relatives?

  10. Thanks for the video. I like the idea of Smith taking over as goalie coach, I like the job Holland had done, but I do have a soft spot for Staios and would be interested to see what he could do.

  11. Skinner was too young to be put in this position so early. Oilers would have won if Jack Campbell was the main goalie for the playoffs.

  12. I think Kane should go, he's a liability with his too often dangerous antics and doesn't produce consistently enough in return, I thought that when he got signed. That's just one issue amongst many others that the Oilers have. I'm a Flyers guy and I was really bummed that we wouldn't see thee Duo make it to the Finals and win. I'm a big Drai fan. Love that dude.

  13. Ken has been great with trades and draft picks, but has been both good and bad when it comes to signings. Hyman, nuge, and kane are great value contracts, kassian was too much, nurse was too much, and so far campbell is too much. Maybe they are worried he will blow it with bouchard and mcleod ?

  14. woodcroft has to go. you cant have 90% of your team underperform and blame anybody else.

  15. Connor McRegular Season is requesting a trade to any other team that has a chance to win the cup!!

  16. I’d like to see what Holland does with Bouchard first before writing him off. If Bouchards agent wants 5 million I’d probably trade him along with Campbell for Karlsson and a pick. Gonna need the cash to sign guys like Kostin, Janmark, McLeod and Bjugstad. Ceci, Yamo, Kane can go. I’d even consider RNH as trade bait since he never seems to show up in playoffs.

  17. The Staios move would be to keep him as he is supposedly sought after by other teams. Goalie coach is long over do. Time will tell

  18. Firing the goalie coach should happen. It’s the one spot that I see we need a good amount of help in to get out GAA down. Would like to see Gretzky get the GM job and Staos taking over his role. Definitely keep Holland, he made some nice moves this year.

  19. I like these speculation moves. I'd also add in, bring back Ryan Smyth to the organization. He needs to be around, involved, and seen/heard by the fans as much as possible.

  20. Edmonton has been a goalie graveyard for a very long time. I've been an advocate of removing Justin for over 10 years. Mike Smith would be a great addition. Been a winner at every level

  21. whenever holland speaks in public he comes across as bumbling rambling & incoherant . Public speaking is not his thing.I think management has now limited his public speaking engagements compared to before.

  22. given limited cap space holland did pretty well and if you look at the past 20 years the last two years were a huge step up. a goalie and a couple d men from and a concept of team d to be a constant contender. i wonder why this francise has such a hard time executing a consistent defensive strategy. the only shot they got right now is out score other teams which is fun but they need to keep piling them in to win, sitting on leads isn't a team with poor tending and forecheck breaking ability. thanks for the insight but ditching holland is suicide in my eyes

  23. You know what Patrick? I totally think these are all good moves. Dustin Schwartz hasn't done much in helping Skinner or Campbell get better over the regular season or playoffs! Both goalies are weak on the glove hand and neither could scrape together a sv% higher than .900 in playoffs or Reg season. (yes Campbell had a .947sv % when relieving Skinner in 3 games, yet obviously he did not have Woodcroft's confidence in starting a few of these games when we really needed a goalie to steal a game or 2 in the playoffs). 1 Shutout in 82 games? That's pathetic imo.
Also I think they should think of either giving Dave Manson a good talking to, or drop him like a bad habit. Everyone in the league knows that Edmonton's Defense is weak and I don't really think its the players but more what they are doing on the ice. Whenever the defense go "Try hard" they all try to go for the puck carrier and they leave the opposition standing in front of the net for 5+ seconds all by themselves. Watch Sportsnet's and TSN vid's about what Edmonton did wrong in game 6…. They both identify the same thing.
Draisaitl leaves the man he is covering right in front of the net by himself. Next goal it was Ceci who left his man all alone in font of the net when all they had to do is stand in front of the net and check the Vegas player if a rebound becomes available.
Sadly, if you watch most of the games in which they lost it was due to very similar personal errors. Didn't Manson and Woodcroft both notice this reoccurring reason for giving up goals??? yet it happens time and time again.
I think aside from Yamamoto, Bjugstad and maybe Janmark, Edmonton has quite a good deep team. Just a few are under performing. Kane didn't do near as well as last playoffs but I'm thinking it has to do with his wrist still recovering and he is still our pest player that gets under the oppositions skin so I don't think he should be going anywhere.

  24. Please dont fuck around with the Oilers, they just need a few better defence and a goalie. And get rid of of a few players. Ken Holland is a jerk and should be let go!

  25. With the way the Oilers have trended ever since you guys landed Evander Kane, I would say making any leadership changes would be a bad idea. Ken Holland has finally managed to build a good team around McDrai. But sure, firing the goalie coach might not be a bad idea…

  26. I always said that Mike Smith would be great goalie coach ! Because he has the passion for the team !💯👍🏾🇨🇦
