The refs there absolutely pathetic that game. How is that not a penalty?

  2. SteakCakeman

Insane that the commentators were saying “looks like it just hit the front of his helmet, not where he’s holding his face”. I don’t think the rule is “must make contact with facial tissue to be called” but I’m probably wrong

Keith Jones is a complete donut for his commentary on that.

There was also a 4 min major that they missed on Burns… They should have called both.

    I like what Rod said.

If it wasn’t a penalty, why did you stop play? If it wasn’t a penalty, then what about their goal?

And with the T-chuck flop against Martinnook (or martin-nuke if you are Kenny Albert), what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Or, in this case, we just have to play against two teams: one whose a bunch of late hitting, roughing goons, and one that wants to turn a blind eye as they try to hurt our team.

    Sounds about right.

What’s amazing is that in spite of all of this, our Canes are still in every game to the end.

You know if it had been Martinuke they would’ve called it in a hot second.

The refs missed penalities we committed. We didn’t lose bc of the refs. We lost bc we got out goalied and out played. Blaming the refs for us simply not playing like the better team. We played well, great even, but had a couple of slip ups they did not and they were able to capitalize.

I agree it was a penalty, but I do not agree that’s what made us lose. I was yelling at the refs during the game. But. It happens. And the refs missed calls on both sides.

But Eddie Olczyk told me it wasn’t a penalty!

If you need the refs to make a call 2 mins left due to accidental contact when your also down 2-0 in the series you shouldn’t expect to win. It’s sports and this stuff happens

There were at least 6 bad missed calls by the refs last night. Canes got one powerplay the entire game. Between that and literally every bounce and tip going floridas way, the boys had no chance last night. I haven’t been that angry about officiating while watching a Canes game in a few years, at least since the boston series we got swept in a few years back

Didn’t understand it at all. Florida decided to keep hitting after the whistle repeatedly just hoping to start a fight and the refs do nothing.

I come as a part time canes fan, but the boys are getting outplayed. Even with the extra attacker at the end they could barely control the puck. Missed calls aside, we shouldn’t be leaving it up to the refs, that’s an old rule. Win on the scoreboard and everything falls into place.

Mitch Marner can relate…. so can Calle Jarnkrok

2 blown calls “cost” the Leafs game 5 and the series…

But it probably would have been better for them if they just scored more goals and won more than 1 game…. but I digress…

I love hockey. The NHL is not hockey it’s sports entertainment. Florida is the Cinderella story they need to keep the eyes off failed Arizona. Insight conspiracy theories.

  15. denvercaniac

There has to be or there has to become a method of holding them accountable. That level of “incompetence” should cost jobs.

  16. that-bro-dad

    Was it a missed call?

    Yes.

Is it why we lost the game?

    No.

We lost the game because we have one goal on 70 shots over the last two games.

Just listened to the canes morning after podcast and Adam Gold covers this very well and I agree with his take. I do not mind the no calls so long as its evenly called the same way. However, if you call the nit picky calls like you did in the 2nd? Then you call the hook on Aho in the 3rd and the High stick on ghost in the 3rd.

The sequence where Gudas hits Aho high twice, just as Staal hit the florida player to go to the box (where he slings his head back to sell it) and you don’t call Gudas but then Call Brady on a “slash” on the stick… is where I take issue. You also call a penalty on Marty because Chucky just drops his stick? So Florida can sell their calls and get them but the adverse take on Ghost is that he tried to sell it?? Get out of here. That’s a bias take and from someone who isn’t trying to call this fairly.

Call it the same way, for both teams. Or let it all go. Pick one.

Finally, based on how the rules read and in my understanding (I could be wrong) because they blew the play dead, and didn’t allow the penalty, then Florida should have gotten the open net goal. Its either a PP or a goal. Not just a dead play. Ghost isn’t a goalie, and players have been on the ice for longer periods of time and play has continued. So that made zero sense.

In the end. We have dominated play 3 games in a row. Dominated. We win Wednesday, We will win game 5. It will come to game 6. Away – Home – Away – Home sequence.

Canes in 7. Just keep fueling this fire for the boys.
