No one is per say but When you have some home grown young talent or multiple talents you build around it you dont sell the Farm for one player it hardly ever works. Did Gretz go to the Cup with StL and The Rangers no and only once with LA. If Mcjesus cant get it done with the group he has now as well Matthews with his i mean? Sorry but a Dahlin Contract is no more than 8-9 mill max. Plus him cooling off after the AS break was a lil Worrysome.

The only reason Gretzky was traded was for $$$$ . Pockilington the owner back then needed the money . 30for30 on ESPN has an excellent documentary on how that deal went down.

You look at the teams with the big contract high end guys, how many are left in the playoffs? Really it's just Vegas. They had a very solid, deep team to begin with though.
I'd argue Tuch is the most important player on the team currently.
The great one 99 🐐 trade was for the league. Our guys can't impact the league like he did. Maybe a team but a league heck no. That was the biggest hockey trade ever. No one is untouchable. Guys like tage , tuch , cozens , levi , dahlin , power , sammy , quinn , jj i hope is our core pieces for a cup run. Plus our pipeline

No way dahlin is getting 12 million.. anything more then 10 million is ridiculous. If he wants that I’d give him a bridge deal for 8 million
Power should get a 8 year deal and more then dahlin to get ahead of it because 4 years in it’ll be a deal
Defenseman can’t be defined by scoring. I think defenseman should be graded by physical play. Defenseman have to absolutely be physical no exceptions.. this is why I can’t stand Bryson,clague and jokiharju . Those 3 guys are afraid of there own shadows
In your example for Dahlin asking too much and Adams days would then be numbered….I feel that its exactly how Botterill went down. I feel Botterill made some great trades over his time but he mismanaged the salary cap badly.
Dhahlin is a very dynamic offensive defenseman who is playing acceptable defense….but Samuelson may be actually more valuable to the team….

The cap is expected to go up by a ton in 2024, so while I'm not expecting Dahlin to command over $11 million (especially seeing what Makar signed for), that kind of salary is not going to look as crippling as it does right now.
The Sabres have been around for 52 years, only once ever have they had a scoring defensemen who could get over 60 points, Dahlin is now very good and tough in D zone and he scored 70 points, I would pay him 10-11 million if we had to, what defensemen would we get to replace that top #1 spot? Nobody! No team will trade a top D man and we have zero defensemen as prospects who could take over, Power is pretty good but he never shoots the puck and isn’t a goal scoring D man…every team that has won a cup in last 50 years has had one top two way D man, only exceptions are Carolina and 1990 Oilers who didn’t have a big time D man like Orr, Coffey, Potvin, Hedman, etc. I would not trade Dahlin

What would we give the Blackhawks??? We could give them a fast forward to a viable team in the near future for one player and keep our core of 9. Sure we would lose several very good prospects. But have you seen Connor B's clips? Could you see him on the kids team? While moving Dylan with Mitts to a line…. And we could give CHI half of a team and still win the cup… I've got to go change just dreaming of that move… I Believe Austin and Connor M are viable to be future Sabres when we are close to the Cup in a couple of years and Toronto and Edmonton are not…
You’re talking so much sense. When we drafted Eichel I thought he would never ever get traded but he did. If we offered Dahlin, Power, Kulich and two first rounders for McDavid wouldn’t they take it? Everyone could get traded but the cost of it could mean there’s not enough support left to be successful.
