That is a very good move by management I applaud and not often do I applaud of what coaches and management do.
As for Guhle and the future ….this part has several layers.First thing pre season I thought he didn't look good at all but by the third game he looked much better.He went from off my list to on my list of players that should make the team.Having said that he NEEDS to improve because he is NOT a PLUS player and lacks a bit in all areas.I know many …the majority THINK players will improve a lot with a couple years well there is reason why IF they do and it revolves around hockey IQ.
As of right now Guhle is at best a 3/4/5 D man with potential to barely be a number 2 but I am not so sure he can be as good as a first line D man.Matheson sure grew on me he is pretty good for a guy most consider "average".Point being if Matheson was on the top pairing 3 years from now I wouldn't be too worried.
MY hope is that Hutson becomes a sort of Paul Coffey Neidermayer type top piaring with so far matheson but we have tiem to find one more better D man.
The biggest issue is forwards we NEVER have a player in the top 20….30…50?We also need PLUS players MINUS players equate to a LOSING season.It really hurts that we actually could have had Tkachuk a tough grinding good scoring forward my lord we would have been THAT much better.
Now give me that big kid in Buffalo Dylan Cozens yep I'll take him in a heartbeat …who you want Buffalo we could use Cozens on the Habs.
