Even though I'm a Devils fan this Florida Panthers playoff run is why I love hockey & sports in general b/c while this is a diluted statement in sports we genuinely don't know what could happen not only season by season but also day by day. Also, to be honest, after seeing what happened to the Hurricanes tonight suddenly the Devils playoff loss doesn't feel that bad anymore b/c I would rather lose a playoff game in any other way than the way the Hurricanes did tonight especially if it's an elimination game.

I am pretty tired of southern teams (not mine) winning every year, but this is different. This has me thinking some kind of mysticism is at work. Game 7 in Boston, with an empty net tying it in the last minute. Nearly every time I see empty net on the ice the team in the lead swipes the puck and flings it into the net. Then Florida wins in overtime and completes a comeback against the best record of all time, putting Boston in league with the Cubs and Mariners.
Now they have launched like a rocket, denying Raleigh overtime by scoring in the last five seconds. After being less than a minute from going home, they have become a beast.
I am a Kings fan. I know how sweet it feels to knock off a President's Trophy team in the first round. When your team does that, you kind of get to thinking that now you have no reason not to win it all. So far, only the Kings have done it, but the Panthers are the 4th team to make it to the big show, and may very well join the Kings as #1 Number Eights
