I have very little doubts Michkov will be in the top scorers in this league and you need those guys. Personally though I am not convinced at all he is gonna me a good playoffs player and that is what I want the most.

Idk why people keep talking about Michkov… the Habs won’t be picking him

It also depends on his character. Is he driven? Does he want to play in the NHL and make a mark? How many Russians came and went because they just didn’t care enough to play here? Scherbak, Yakupov come to mind.

Also Montreal and Russian players have a bad history. Markov is the outlier of course. We don’t need another fiasco like the Kostistyn brothers and the mob.

  4. There’s also rumours going around that he is not a good guy? Like selfish and thinks he’s the shit… Anyway, if management can’t interview him, we wont take him IMO. If Smith is taken then we should take Leonard or Reinbacher. I really hope San Jose pick him.

I already accepted the fact that we won’t draft him. It will be an easier pill to swallow come June 28th.

I don’t believe he fits the team this management is trying to build. They want character guys and from what I’ve read Michkov isn’t that.

I could be wrong (hopefully I am) but I will support whatever pick they chose.

If he’s available, we should pick him, even if we don’t want him as part of our team. Here is why: His value will remain high for 3 years, as he will tear down the KHL. Then, when he comes to the NHL, on a controlled cap hit contract, if we don’t want him on the team, trading for equal and certain value (established player) will be possible. Not drafting him is equivalent to trading him for lower and uncertain value.

Theres a lot of comparisons with Kucherov because of the russian factor but he kinda reminds me of Patrick Kane/Jack Hughes. I really hope SJ takes him at 4 so the front office doesnt have the chance to overthink and pass on him.

Wheeler’s point #4 is really important, I think. Michkov’s troubling “tendencies” are only likely to become more ingrained, the longer he is playing in the KHL and having great success. As long as he’s producing and his team is winning, why would his coach train him to play any differently?

To spend a 5OA pick on a player whose development and coaching you will have no control over for a number of years is a very large gamble.

From Wright, Wright, Wright…to Michkov, Michkov, Michkov…blah, blah…over and over…it’s just boring me.

The factor is him not coming over that’s it. And it’s a big one. He is a talented prospect.

This is going to be a lot of waste of typing IMO because SJ will select him. A lot less eyes on the organization.

These guys just talk out of their ass. Honestly they just write whatever will get clicks. They have no effing idea.

He reminds me of a Logan Couture, I feel like his skating will be what holds him back from that superstar potential but still a good 1st line forward with great hockey sense who battles and has a good shot.

I could see a random team loving mickhov and offering to trade up for our pick for a chance at a star. We should consider any reasonable offer for trading down if we can’t decide between a half dozen prospects and management thinks mikchov isn’t for us.

If Bedard is projecting to be generational and MM is a touch below him, then its clear as day we need to draft MM if he’s available. Doesn’t matter if we have to wait a few years. Get the gamebreaker.

  15. habulous74

Whoever we pick, I have full faith that it will be the best fit for this team. I have absolute faith in HUGO right now. Until that is betrayed by a blatant misjudgement, it will remain.

  16. ItzEnoz

The “there are 25 Reinbachers” would be why picking him at 5 is not smart to me because if there are 25 that means you can get on through trade

God, I hope this is a decision they don’t have to make.
