That's sad that Dubas is going, I liked him as GM of Toronto.
I think now that he's gone, it does put the signing of Austin Matthews in jeopardy.
Nervous times for Leafs fans!
Dubas was perfect for Toronto, an entitled rich white boy who knew math but not hockey or budgets. They should keep that twit forever.
Matthews was given everything he could have personally wanted from this organization….if the GM not being Dubas is enough to make him want to leave, move him
Trade Matthews. Extend Marner. Extend Willy. Sign Ryan O'Reilly, offer him the Captaincy. Fire Sheldon, he got out coached in three playoff appearances. Then, play with the pieces that you can interchange.
The audacity of having to show Matthews a plan when he's been a sleep in so many series and I say this as a fan.
Jason Spezza tendered his resignation. What a foolish move on his part!
No way I touch no trade clauses and max contracts going forward with Matthews and Marner. Trading one just pisses the other one off, who then promptly gets a no trade and the power to call their shots. Have to rip the band aid off and sell high on both now.
The Leafs had a decent year! Better than many of their rivals! They lost in the second round, and so did Edmonton. Hell, Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa, and Montreal didn't make the playoffs. Winning in professional sports is very tough! This is one of the reasons fans love the ones who win in pro sports! I'm not going to stop following the Leafs or the other NHL teams! Why? Because hockey is a great sport! There's always next year right!
So unless somebody can help me pay off my mortgage and give me enough money to retire, I'll keep tuned into the NHL, especially the Canadian teams & not worry too much about what the outcomes are! If and when one of our Canadian teams hoists Lord Stanley, please God let it be Calagary first, and if not Calgary, how about Edmonton! What can I say? I'm a good Alberta transplant boy for the past 25 years! LOL

McDavid would have given his all for Toronto, not that he hasn't for Edmonton already. McDavid would have been a lifetime leaf. Shame it came down to 1 lottery ball.
the problems with the recent leaf dynasty is that lou lamoriello left; now leaf nation has a strong team but needs to improve and under sheldon the team analysis indicates little improvement season-to-season

A m has to be traded. I love him regular season and he's a no show in the playoffs period. Marc Crofford is the last coach to get anything out of Zurich.
Mattews like many are better on the big ice. He's invisible in nhl playoffs. Check the tape.

Kyle is out and it's because of these kinds of lack of success things are always upto players to fix. A M is already worth in the area of 65 – 100 million dollars at 25 yrs old and his playoffs are a joke! His inability to comprehend is always hidden by Dubas. Trade him now or your stuck with him as a boat anchor for 14 million x 8 yrs.
I know people are not going to like this but to bad, his no trade clause kicks in. A good man lost his job yesterday because A M has no Moxy when it counts!
Where ever Dubas lands understand that he will give up almost anything to bring Matthews in
