Oklahoma State HC Mike Gundy has always been a very solid offensive mind throughout his entire coaching career. Mike Gundy has traditionally not spent time on learning the defensive side of the ball from a coaching & analytical perspective. That changed in 2021, Jim Knowles struck Gold with Malcolm Rodriguez leading the way. Our offense was extremely sluggish and often times looked lazy and boring, but the defense was worth the price of admission all by itself! Gundy was not only enamored with his new Ferrari Top 5 national defense, but more importantly he was physically intrigued. He realized that phenomenal defense can also be pretty fun, exciting and kinda “sexy”. He was hooked and dove in headfirst! Yes HC Mike Gundy absolutely does like to dip his hand in the offensive cookie jar a bit much his new obsession with getting lost in defensive tape led to the proverbial light bulb coming back on. Gundy needed to buy back in to get his team to do the same for him in return. I love the enthusiasm. That being said I think we'll struggle a little this year. I think the D will be decent this year with the chance to be really good next year as long as we don't lose those big 3 in the off-season. This year will be an adjustment. Plus we think Kirkland is going to be good, but I need to see it in live action.

Maybe this is antiquated thinking but I am concerned about the pass rush from guys not named Colin Oliver along with how well the linebackers can take on blocks, personally just more comfortable with a 4 down front. That being said if they can equal or better the success of Iowa State then hat's off.
My concern are Corners vs some amazing WR talent in the league. Great run down. Thanks Cody
