Gotta See It: Capitals’ Wilson steamrolls Islanders’ Visnovsky

Washington’s Tom Wilson was given a charging penalty for this bone crushing hit on New York Islander Lubomir Visnovsky.

  1. Perfectly legal hit some say??? That is why he was called for charging.  He did not go after the puck, he targeted the head and took an extra step.  Wilson is a punk with barely NHL skills.

  2. Hit on Zadarov brought me here XD but this hit was most definitely interference. Everything else looked pretty clean though :/

  3. Wilson stayed on his feet and did not jump. He didn't accelerate or charge at Visnovsky, and he led with his shoulder. The only thing that would make this possibly a penalty is because of the head contact, but Wilson did not deliberately aim for his head. This occurred because Visnovsky is significantly shorter than Wilson.

  4. This was a dirty hit, and Im an islanders fan so you might call me biased but Visnovsky didn't have the puck, doesn't matter how close the puck is to him, he didn't have possession of it, should've been a suspension considering it cost the islanders the series

  5. This is one of the most flawlessly executed hits in the history of hockey. Purely legal. Classical music should be played while rewatching this in slow motion, on repeat. Wilson is a brilliant composer of contact.

  6. I saw the hit in person about 20 rows away. Clean hit but if someone does that to one of your players they shouldn't leave the ice without help from teammates.

  7. if you idiots calling that a clean hit you must be mentally ill… its clearly very dangerous against rules hit… below up aiming to opponent head… Visnovsky ended is career after that hit… very bad….

  8. I believe that like with Scott Stevens, you should be aware of where Wilson is when you're on the ice with him, and for the love of all things great about hockey…keep your head up you damn fools!

  9. Im a ranger fan, i absolutely hat the isles.. but this was a dirty hit.. what a throwback

  10. Wilson is a freight train. Thrilled he's on the Capitals. He's gotten better each year. A key player on their Cup championship team

  11. I don’t call it a dirty hit Wilson being a kid trying to make a name for himself not leaving his feet and making a hit late that looks dirty it could go both ways call me biased or not I think it’s not dirty no where near clean hit but Wilson did make a hit and had reactions

  12. I was there, on that side of the ice in the 300s. I nearly lost my head saying it was a clean hit. Security came up after the end of the period, I was with a friend and sat on our step for the rest of the game (thankfully) was a hell of a night.

  13. "Visnovsky's standing up." – Pierre McGuire.

Meanwhile, Visnovksy's knees are bent at almost a 90 degree angle. God, I hate Pierre.
