This isn't a great rule at all. It isn't the best for the game itself. And I'm from finland and a goalie myself and would love to see finnish goalies play in the chl, because in finland, it is rare to see a young goalie at Liiga
I'm still waiting for NCAA Division 3 players to get to the NHL, most players from that level only make it as high as AHL. The school I root for, St. Norbert, the majority of those players only play a year or 2 of ECHL and that's it, even if they play well and it sucks because that school is WICKED good and SHOULD produce top tier talent! One of our goalies, whom helped win our first national title back in 2008, his name is Kyle Jones, i think he may have gotten hurt during the season, but in the 25 games he played he only gave up 28 goals and had a .950 save percentage. He was the only Div 3 player to get a shot at a college all star game, be he only played a couple years in ECHL and that's it :(.

European goalies could still play in the CHL during the ban because of the loophole that if a player plays Midget in North America they don't count as imports

It's strange indeed how few quality goalies Canada produces comparing the overall quality.
But for national side's success it's futile to have multiple world class goalies since only one can play at a time.

That goalie ban rule is stupid.if you allow players than you should allow goalies.
