Why Edler’s New Contract Is PERFECT: Vancouver Canucks Extend Alex Edler—Contract Extension Rumours

The Vancouver Canucks re-signed defenceman Alex Edler to a two year contract worth a total of $12 million. In my opinion, this is the absolute perfect contract, and the best case scenario for both parties.

  1. Totally agree. Good term, reasonable value, and awesome that there is no NTC. He still has a few serviceable years ahead of him. Only bad news here is that Hughes likely won’t be in the 1st PP unit next year… but oh well

  2. 2 years for 6 imo is a liitle high but it won really change anything or affect our future and both sides win. He gets money and we keep him

  3. Now, let’s hope they pick up a top 2/4 dman and a 1st/2nd line winger who isn’t shit

  4. Perfect. Great job Jim Benning. Doesn't make sense to let Eddy walk when you are trying to build D-man depth. I think Canucks are going to surprise a lot of people this year. The late season college signings and the return of Olli Juolevi will have a significant change in D-man depth although they may not be able to be starters just yet, but at least they got someone to call up now. If they can get a free agent top six forward and a free agent top 4 D-Man, and can manage to stay healthy they are going to make the playoffs. Bold statement i know. LOL

  5. Many people will say that's alot but Edler is a great Defenceman and deserves it more then others

  6. Alright Leafs nation, we have a trade. Per my sources, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leaf in exchange for Mitch Marner, Timothy Liljegren and a 2020 1st Round pick. It is confirmed. Go Leafs!

  7. Meh… I think $5M per would have been generous. I don't mind him getting the extra coin though. 2 years. I can live with it.

  8. This really is a perfect deal. If you take Bo, Sven, Jake, Thatcher, Edler etc. JB has done an excellent job. Along with the AVs we have the most cap over the next 4 years all while building a very good young core.
