The only positive direction there should be with John Hynes is positive they aren’t gonna hire him.
Seriously we went from word being that the Rangers were looking at Quenneville, followed by an uproar. To hearing that the Rangers choices are absolutely shit and would slam our window shut like Babcock, Laviolette or John Hynes. Admittedly Laviolette is the best of these options

I do not believe this for a second. Hynes is legitimately bad. There’s 0 chance Drury sees the kids underperforming, looks at Eeli Tolvanen, and then decides Hynes is a good hire.
I choose to believe either everyone is fearmongering over NYR receiving permission to interview or Drury is improving the optics on Laviolette by making public a considerably worse option. (Or, he’s waiting for a decision in Pittsburgh and is simply lining up backup plans.)

Some reason I feel like the positive direction was that Hynes had an interview and walked out of it feeling good. Anyone who has interviewed before has had experiences where they interview have good vibes all around and don’t get the job.

Am I the only fuckface here who has been watching Rangers hockey for over 30 years and not under the impression I know more than the Rangers front office? They are running a multi BILLION dollar franchise.. I cannot imagine thinking I am more well-informed than the people making these decisions.
Can any of you guys name ONE coach you wouldn’t complain about hiring? Honestly. One coach who has any semblance of qualifications that most of you won’t just bitch and complain about? If there is a coach available, as opposed to happily employed, it doesn’t exactly say they’ve been totally successful.
Edit- To be clear, I know nothing about Hynes. I just won’t waste my time or any of yours by making you read some whiny comment about he’s the wrong man for the job, implying I know better than the New York Rangers entire management. I just can’t fathom having the audacity to believe something like that.

It feels like Drury pulls a Jekyll and Hyde every year between the offseason and regular season. Does some straight up strange things in the summer, then makes some decent moves mid-season to patch up his own mistakes.
Maybe this time he wants to mix it up and go good move first, then bad move. Firing Gallant, probably the right decison giving the players’ thoughts about him during exit interviews (reportedly). Going on to hire Hynes of all people…
Is Hynes a smokescreen of panic they’re manufacturing so that the despair of the inevitable Laviolette hiring is lessened because “*it could have been so much worse*”…???
