Should Bruins Have Traded Pastrnak for Tkachuk? | The Skate Pod Ep 200

Brian, Bridgette and Scott preview a Panthers-Knights Stanley Cup Final and what it means for Bruce Cassidy. Scott poses the question: should the Bruins have traded David Pastrnak for Matt Tkachuk last offseason? Could the Bruins re-sign Tyler Bertuzzi before free agency? And, is this the last we’ve seen of the Ullmark-Swayman goalie tandem?

  1. You make the trade b/c Pasta is 1 dimensional and Tkachuk is EXACTLY what the Bruins have lacked for years – tough, long, energetic, courageous physical guys in your top 6. Tkachuk is the picture you see when you define the prototype playoff hockey player. Bruins have been hard headed in never admitting they’re not built for the playoffs against physical teams, because that’s never been their explicit goal, because you have to take risks and be in a rebuild for a couple of years. That’s the problem. Been Sweeney’s issue since day 1. Getting smaller wingers but not playoff hockey types has been this teams habitual scourge. Another reason why the choke last year was an absolutely murderous drop of the ball and once in a lifetime opportunity missed. Instead of kicking it up several notches like Florida, you have guys like Lindholm disappearing like Houdini and Monty open to asking your grandmother what the lines should be.
