I love it, and honestly if they decided to land with it, I’d probably be for it and buy a jersey. But I gotta be honest, I’m tired of us rotating out our logo so frequently. If we want to build history, we need to pick a logo and stick with it. We’ve been around 50 years and had three major logos, the current one being the longest standing in our team’s history.

If we go with this one I think my stance will be “Okay, BUT THIS IS THE LAST ONE”

While I really really like this version it has no history with the team. Additionally do we really need a 4th primary logo in 53 years?

The logo is sick, and rules for a specialty jersey celebrating the indigenous community, but making it the primary jersey feels a bit off base maybe? I’m sure there is a way to do it respectfully, but just taking indigenous art for commercial reasons seems uncool.

I am First Nations, and while I love this. I must say, I don’t know if I want the team to have 4 primary logos in it’s history. Starting to have an identity crisis. Keep the orca or go back to the old school skate. This would make for a wicked 3rd jersey if we went back to the skate logo.

This could also be a pretty cool patch on the shoulders.

I agree with most of the comments here already. Really cool logo. Really don’t need a new primary logo. For the special event purpose it filled it absolutely hit the mark though.

Great for a specialty night but too busy for a primary logo. It isn’t a perfect guideline, but generally a decent one is that a child needs to be able to draw your logo with relative ease.

I think most people don’t know what the logo is without giving it a long hard look either which isn’t great for a primary logo. It basically suffers from a lot of the same problems the current skate logo has.

I like this logo as a one off but it would not make a good primary logo, way to busy.

I definitely agree it looks better than the original skate (it’s genuinely so boring and doesn’t exemplify the city at all; I’m almost certain people just like it because the color scheme is really good) but I like the orca and think it fits really well for the moment.

IIRC it’s designed by an Anishinaabe artist, namely the Canadian Shield – Great Lakes area. No real connection to Canucks or local First Nations, other than Gino Odjick.

Four logos? That’s like having four exes, it’s just too much. Let’s stick with the orca or skate.

May I just say, ‘Get fucked.’ Too busy and we have enough logos. Also, Linden didn’t play busted up and mangled (fuck you messier) on any other logo that the flying skate. The flying skate or nothing!!

I’d like to see this in the blue/green color scheme.

I like it and I’m cool with anything non-orca tbh, though im sure many disagree.

It’s super cool but should just be a third/special jersey. The current Orca and color scheme are fine.

In a vacuum it looks cool, but it doesn’t make sense in the context of what the original logo is supposed to represent. This version isn’t really a skate with a blade under it anymore; I have no idea what that random arrow is doing under the “blade”; and I have no clue what that thing replacing the skate’s “boot” even *is*.

So, in principle, remaking the skate logo with 1st nations iconography isn’t a bad idea, but this one is just a head-scratcher. Like you need to keep the skate part intact and then add the iconography, not just make some facsimile that doesn’t really keep the intent of the original.

I’d be fine with an indigenous logo but nah this isn’t as clean as the skate

  18. No. The last thing the Canucks need to do is go away from blue and green as the primary colours. They got that part correct when they made the switch in 2007. Unfortunately, they forgot to change out the logo. And, this isn’t the fix, whatever the colours are.

  19. djblackprince

Hard disagree. It’s nice but not replacement nice

Looks horrible. I think if we ever redesign they will go with orca with a flair of First Nations – it would look amazing.
