Hm, I can see pridham going there

  2. terimaki89

And hence the offer changed last minute.

There’s no way, evidence or not that I’ll believe kyle didn’t know he had some opportunity as pres in pitts.

    Smh. W.e

  3. Arch-Vader

This guy used his family as leverage, then made a last-minute impossible demand on purpose forcing shannys hand so he could get out. Down vote all you want, this guy never wanted to come back.

  4. TheGapInTysonsTeeth

Best of luck in PIT, Kyle. Hope you do well over there.

  5. toedragrelease

Does Pittsburg have a GM as well? Or is Kyle president/gm?

  6. Neutral-President

What a twist! Dubas wanted Shanny’s job!

  7. picklesaredry

To all of you that downvoted me after I said that Dubas wanted shanys job.. here you go

  8. JinKazamasWaterboy

It’s clear now – Dubas had no intention of staying here after this season. He knew his career at MLSE was limited as long as Shanahan was there, and made a counter offer in bad faith with a sympathy story to preserve his reputation.

  9. HemiKooks

Lmao so all that family bullshit was definitely a public negotiation tactic on his part. Shanahan called his bluff.

  10. So he says to media he will only be GM of Leafs. Not sure he wants it. Then counters a couple days later.

Sure sounds like he knew exactly what the Penguins offer was the whole time.

If this was us, we’d be charged for tampering lol.

  11. Natural-Departure-87

Your legacy is putting a team into cap hell, and a single playoff series win. I hope the Leafs fill the net every chance they get against Pittsburgh.

  12. champchampx3

I guess you can put your family though it after all haha. I don’t blame him though

  13. The leafs are going to regret letting him go….

  14. Ultimately he didn’t succeed enough as GM, didn’t take enough accountability of his failures by whining about family impact nonsense to take away focus from his failures, then makes his boss nervous, last minute unreasonable contract demands and accepts pitts job..yeah dude is a master politician

  15. james-HIMself

Have fun moving your entire family to a new country after trying to steal your bosses job. This is an L. He literally has to restart his entire life with his family because of his decisions.

  16. Crosby taking a series of 870,000 x1 contracts all but confirmed

  17. Purplebuzz

This has the Alex Anthopolis vibe to me.

  18. Sirrebral99

Pridham is still under contract and Leafs would need to give permission to let him interview for their GM. After this spectacle I doubt Shanny says to his best pal Dubas “sure, come on by next week to have a chat”

    He ain’t going anywhere lol

  19. Melodic_Bowstring

It’s an inside job, Dubas firmly in place to trade Crosby to Leafs for Justin Holl and a 7th rounder

  20. M0un05ki10

Can’t butt heads with the Shanahan if you become the Shanahan somewhere else.

  21. howsshegoin

    screaming, crying, throwing up

it’s an absolute black mark on the organization that they put The Dubas Family through all this when this solution was right in front of them staring them in the face

  22. billyshin

It appears he wants to show the world that he was cockblocked. Now I really want to know who blocked his trades and who it involved.

  23. Whiterhino77

This could be interesting. Wanted more autonomy as a GM, now he’s going to hire a GM with no autonomy

  24. Zealousideal-Swing39

Congratulations to the Sault St.Marie penguins!

  25. BobbyCrispyGuitar

I wish Kyle Dubas the best with his new position in Pittsburg.

  26. JamesCurtis24

It cracks me up how irrationally excited Pens fans are over Dubas. Up until last trade deadline, all Dubas ever did was sign the core to bad contracts, acquire players who fit his “analytical hockey mind” but never panned out in the playoffs because they weren’t the type of players you need to win in the playoffs, and had a hard on for Soo players.

Against his good trades, there’s the bad ones, Murray trade, Foligno trade, having to give up a first to get rid of Mrazek, having to give up a 1st to get rid of Marleau, no great draft history etc. He had Pridham working as his cap wizard, and Shanny to offer guidance from above.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they shouldn’t have desired Dubas as an option, but it just cracks me up how in one breath, they’ll think the team here is a joke, but also Dubas is a genius…

I think Pittsburgh is going to find themselves in a situation where without Pridham, without Shanny, Dubas maybe isn’t quite the messiah they think he is.

  27. TheCarrier89

So he was gunning for Shanny’s job and Shannahan told him to kick rocks?

  28. JoeRoganHair

People need to understand it was Shanny who hired Pridham not Dubas 😅

  29. TheGiftnTheCurse

He Wins a Cup before We Do!

Its so much fun watching us get wrecked by ex-leafs.

    This is the pudding

  30. hecimov

What will the excuse be now when Dubas builds a team in Pittsburg that can’t win in the playoffs – ownership holding him back?

  31. PoipuMTG

So that’s what he meant by “not popping up elsewhere”

  32. vivlavid

Ok are we gonna have a rivalry with PIT over a GM? Could be the first time in the NHL

  33. AustonMothews

So much for “I’ll be working with the leafs or no where at all” LOL

Seems to me, which is what makes total sense now as to why Shanny fired him. That little stint in the media about it “being tough on his family” was just some dick measuring negotiations tactic. It’s no wonder Shanny said his thought shifted.

  34. richarm87

It’s going to be ironic when he doesn’t give autonomy to his hand picked GM.

  35. Bradg93

Lol so much for “it’s leafs or no one else, you won’t see me popping up next week somewhere else”

  36. Hungry_Koala_4000

Who cares really. He just looks dumb now from what he said before

  37. satanhurtsmybum

Looool Keefe behind the bench in Pittsburg

  38. Human_Manner_3370

Good for Dubas. I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t want him in the same position in Toronto over Shanahan, so I am happy for him. I can see him turning the Penguins around before Crosby and Malkin retire.

  39. noocaryror

I think Kyle Dubas is one helluva force, lucky Pittsburg.

  40. Nameless908

False he’s not working for anyone but the leafs this year 🤦‍♂️
