Hughes is on the devils (bad team) and is relied on to create offense…kakkoo has been out since January and he’s been on a more star studded team. When healthy he doesn’t get top PP time because of the star forwards the Rangers have. Bad comparison
I havent watched hughes much unless the rangers play the devils. But watching the rangers, specifically kakko, he has shown flashes of brilliance, but it hasnt been consistent. He has lots of potential, and can still be great, he just needs time and maybe a catalyst to get things going. Kakko has already improved a lot from a overall play perspective, similarly to lafreniere, the points dont tell the full story, their overall play, is relatively decent, its just the point scoring which hasnt been there. It reminds me a lot of Buchnevich(my favourite player in the league). There was a lot of hype around him but for the first few seasons, many people were disappointed, however, when i watched him play, i saw really good potential(similar to what is going on with lafreniere and kakko). Then, last season, buch started to turn up the jets, and played really well, and he is having a really good season this year too, though, unfortunately with the blues and not us. Im not too worried about laf and kakko, i know they’ll get better with time, and more experience.
Going purely on positioning. hughes was able to immediately be on the first line and first PP unit. Kakko has been up and down the lineup and barely sees power play time.
Kappo looks like another Bust like VK another blown pick we should have traded down or at worst selected Zehra’s the best center available on the board that is one of the reason the previous regime is now gone and we have a new Sharif in town so in Chris Dury who we trust JG was great at trades but awful in Drafting while he was GM of the Rangers
And not to mention Hughes has ZERO PIM
Trade
Zadina , Wallinder for Kakko
Kakko needs a fresh start
Put him on the first line with
Raymond and Larkin maybe he’ll show his true self
Kakko ,Larkin Raymond .
Kakko is very skilled I don’t know what happened to him . But something does not add up right Laf and Kakko we’re so highly rated and there both struggling . I think it’s the rangers development .I don’t know what happening in New York but there development team has been bad .With Kravstov,Kakko ,Laf , Anderson having problems to. The rangers did not develop shestrkin or Fox they were both finished products when they arrived
Two completely different directions due to coaching. Hughes was given freedom. Kakko was forced to play defense and play defense first mentality under Quinn. It will help kakko be a selky candidate in the future. Kakko needs to work on endurance and skating. He has the hands. Also the rangers need to give him and laffy pp1 playing time. A player like kakko needs space and having 4 rh shots on a pp is stupid
Anyone who thinks Kaapo will ever be as Hughes is now is kidding themselves
And the Hawks pick Dach who has the worst wrist shot in the NHL. It's just tuck in goals. Never take a player who needs to work on skating and first steps. Duh. I can draft better in the 1st round just reading the Hockey news. Scouts the eye test never deceives at high level picks. I wanted Cousins or Zegras.Hughs was a no brainer. Kappo was like mediocre looking despite his success in the fin league .
Hughes is 🔥
Too bad Dahlin will be better than both combined
once again the american player taken number 1 is better than the finn taken number 2 lol
Jack Hughes looks a lot like a young Patrick Kane. Highly skilled hands wise both very good skaters. The underrated part of both their games is that they both crash the night. Obviously Kane is a winger and Hughes is a center but their games have looked similar so far
If Hughes had begun his career under David Quinn he'd be struggling to get more than 6 minutes a game on the 3rd and 4th line to the day that they finally got a coach who didn't try to force a thorough bred stallion to beat cart horse.
Too bad his season is over now):
That twitter vid was pretty creepy ngl
At this point i can see Kakko going down to the AHL when he returns, unless he's waivers eligible.
On June 30, the Devils will name Jack Hughes the 13th team captain, succeeding his teammate Nico Hischier. Next season, Jack will lead the NHL in goals (86), assists (130) and points (216), lead the Devils to their 1st Stanley Cup since 2003 and win Hart Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, Lady Bing Trophy, Bill Masterton Trophy, King Clancy Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and Mark Messier Leadership Award honors.
Hughes has been really good this season. Future superstar. As for Kakko, first 2 years with Quinn didn’t help him at all and the mistake Gallant made this year was taking him of the Strome/Panarin line. And playing half the season banged up and now out since January. I still feel confident about Kakko though.
Kakko is a mens world champion and MVP in that tournament and Hughes is not :DDDD
Hughes plays Top 6, gets the quality PP time and can't play a lick of defense. KK gets a lot less ice time (because you know, they're actually a good team), gets virtually NO PP time and plays excellent d'. Hughes will be the better scorer for sure, but KK will be a more balanced high-quality player.
