  1. If the Avs can't afford him, how will Toronto? I guess it's possible but I just don't know that Toronto would be the destination outside Colorado if the Avs can't re-sign him

  2. ganna demand a pay day? don't think Toronto is in a position to doll out a 'payday'. the 4th period that also has Avs linked to Malkin, Giroux, and oh every other one of there unrestricted free agents.

  3. look, even if toronto somehow passes the first round, they wont win a cup, 2 reasons, the fact that it's toronto and also gary bettman. go habs go

  4. I’ve been told the Leafs are also interested in Cale Makar, Connor McDavid, and Andrei Vasilevskiy

  5. Canucks fan here, I promise this doesn't happen lol. If they can't afford Mikheyev, how can they afford a more expensive nichushkin? Lmao the internet is stupid sometimes.

  6. Nuke isn't likely to leave the Avs. As Friedman pointed out during or immediately after the Finals, he above almost any other player in the league knows the value of fitting into the team that you're playing for after his Dallas fiasco, and he is an absolutely perfect fit in Colorado. He is also likely to be Sakic's biggest priority signing this off season, so I bet it will be done in fairly short order. I would not be surprised to see the Avs use that 8th year available to them as an enticement and to lower the AAV a little bit.

  7. This is just Leafs nonsense. There’s nothing the Leafs can pay Val that the Avs wouldn’t. He’s Sakic’s priority number 1 and the Avs have a way better cap situation than the Leafs as it is. If he leaves Colorado. It’ll be for a real pay day on a mediocre team. Think 7-8m plus with term.

  8. What potential UFA or trade target isn't rumored to be headed to a Canadian team?

  9. I would absolutely love him in Toronto… if we weren’t strapped for cap.

All of these reports about the leafs going for a big fish in free agency are really funny as a leafs fan ngl.

  10. I would love if the Wild could trade Greenway and sign Nichushkin. Imagine having 3 high end defensive forwards on the same line in Foligno, Eriksson Ek, Nichushkin as well as improving offensively from Greenway to Nichushkin.

  11. Pretty all stock grown if you are Avs FA players. Hard to believe that leafs can on match Avs when they can't even sign Campbell. Avs got their core lock up, Eric Johnston $6m comes off the books to accombinate MacKinnon. Good click bate title thou. I bit. Kadri played himself Colorado, so 4.5 to 5.5m maybe earmarked for Nuke, Lemhky is RFA, Mason should be must. One card is Girard, nice price tag of 5m for smooth puck handle defense, which the Avs can afford to trade to add pieces in to fill out the team. Burky maybe a different option and many quality players may take pay cut in a chance to win a Cup, that's what winning will do for you, but finding the right pieces fit is key

  12. There is zero doubt Nicushkin would be a really good fit for the leafs. unfortuntely they just wont get him and thats for MANY reasons
    1. Being the Cap space they have. Nicushkin is going to have almost every team in the league interested in his services and how much he wants. He will be paid, I expect Nic to get in the 6-6.5M range on a decent term. in the 5 year range. The Leafs just dont have an extra 6M, Unless they decide to trade Nylander and replace him withNic this cant happen.

    2. Dubas' core is set. Dubas has made it clear, This core is the hill hes going to die on. Therefor Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly, Tavares are all locks. when filling out the roster Toronto cant afford to pay players who have JUST broke out , they need to find players to fill out their roster with players who are CLOSE to breaking out so they can get a guy like Nicushkin for 2.5M instead of now at 6-6.5M. Like a Bunting, these are the guys toronto targets now, the guys that havent quite broken out yet but are due.

    3. Nicushkin isnt from Toronto. Hes already won a cup. He isnt going to take a hometown discount to come to toronto.

    4. He hasnt made a ton of money in his career. He has yet to break the 3M mark with any contract he has signed. Being 27 already have won a cup. I look to this contract to be alot more about the money then it would be anything else.
Therefor I see him signing in places like Florida,San Jose, New Jersey those are my 3 teams he goes to if he doesnt resign. I dont see any other team being a fit as 1. being able to give him the money, not being a fit or having no or low tax market. I see New Jersey or Florida though as the two main teams it comes down to

  13. He is exactly what Leafs need…. but my feeling is that he is not going anywhere. But I hope I am wrong.

  14. I think Max Domi and Jacob Cychurn would would be a good fit for the leafs, but I also find the Tavares is not worth the money and his not Captain material, nor is he worth all that bonus money. If the Leafs really wanted to free up cap space, trade out or buy out Tavares (they have the money in their piggy bank), trade Mrazek, the rights to Kase, trade Kerfoot. Time to bring up the hungry young talent like Abruzzese, Robertson, Douglas and Holmberg. Get Husso or Vanecek or Samsonov. These goaltenders have great potential to be #1 starters. On Defense I would trade out both Brodie & Muzzin. Bring up a fresh talent and resign Sandin & Lyubushkin. Goodbye Soup, Mikheyev, Kase, Blackwell, sorry but these UFAs are easy to replace.

  15. You don’t have any defence and you don’t have a jail. And, before you try it, let me tell you, it’s not going to work.

  16. This is why everyone hates the leafs. You all need to draft and develop your own players and win that way. There is a salary cap you know

  17. ..Leafs have little cap space…picks and prospects wasted on bodies no longer around….other Canadian teams will improve putting playoff pressure on T.O……

  18. There is no way the Buds can acquire anyone of significance without trading one or two or three of significance.48 million committed to 5 players,no starting goaltender signed worth a damn. They are in cap Hell.

  19. I think you see Kuemper hit the market before Nuke unless Nuke is seeking something insane. I think Joe gets it done something like 5.5×5.

  20. Well what do you know, another player that deserves to be on the makemelaughs…ffs man 🤦‍♂️🤣
