Ontario Sports Show sits down with Ty Voigt, we want to know what its like to be a boxer, what the training is like, what the battle is like and how it feels to be a boxer!
I started wrestling and Jiu jitsu when I was 14 years old and Muay Thai when I was 16 I fully transitioned to only striking when I turned 19 competed twice as an amateur muay thai fighter winning both contests. When I was getting ready for my next Thai fight I suffered a knee injury that took me out of competition so I turned to boxing as it was my favorite sport to watch growing up and always looking upto Evander Holyfield as my hero also knowing my leg wouldn’t be under the same punishment and I fell in love with the sport of boxing picked it up at a rapid rate as I never felt more relaxed in the boxing ring . I’ve still been with the same head coach I started with who taught me everything I know and gives me the confidence to dominate my opponents knowing I’ve put the work in day in and day out at the gym. Since covid hit my coach and I opened our own gym together called Savage Muay Thai and work with our own fight team we built together.
