I’m glad I’m indifferent to the jackets because from an outsider position this is pretty gross tbh. I’d be interested if there’s some sort of structure to prevent babs from abusing players again, and if theres not why the fuck are they hiring him.

I just hope the publicity of his transgressions opened his eyes to his behavior. I’d like to believe he’s capable of changing considering his advocacy for mental health, but I’m not sure I’d want my team to be the testing ground.

Columbus going from Torts then a player’s coach then Babcock.

Gonna be a wild ride for the players. Hopefully he mellowed out some.

Just posted this in daily thread.

Hilarious takes from people on Babcock. To me one of the most overrated coaches. Was with the wings from 05-06 to 13-14 and we won one cup with historic teams and multiple hall of fame and future hof players. Also widely reported that tons of guys hated his guts. Never made adjustments in the playoffs which everyone seems to forget. Forced his way out when things turned down hill and then did fuck all in Toronto.

The whole you’re soft if you don’t like Babcock take is ridiculous. Dude is an overhyped dinosaur and just shows how much of an old boys club the nhl is.

I won’t forgive him after hearing what he was doing to Johan Franzen and others (Commodore, Marner, ect).

    Chris Chelios:

“Some of the things he (Babcock) said to him (Franzen) on the bench, I don’t know what he said to him behind closed doors one-on-one, but he blatantly verbally assaulted him during the game on the bench,” Chelios said. “It got to the point where poor Johan, no one really knowing he was suffering with the concussion thing and the depression thing, he just broke down and had nervous breakdown, not only on the bench but after the game in one of the rooms in Nashville.

“It was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.”

In an interview with Expressen, Franzen described Babcock as a great coach, “but he’s a terrible person, the worst I ever met. He’s a bully who was attacking people. It could be a cleaner at the arena in Detroit or anybody. He would lay into people without any reason.”

I really hope he’s changed and can be a “players coach” if you will but I’m honestly sick of the NHL recycling old coaches. Hire some new guys already.

On that note I’m so fucking happy we have Lalonde. He’s a very likeable guy. I hope he earns many years of being our Head Coach.
