  1. People keep saying he hasn’t won “anything”, bit didn’t Calgary win their division a couple of times? That’s something 😅 I think we hired the best guy available. If Mathews seems like he’a gonna walk, then maybe Brad can get a good return for him in a trade, based on his experience with Tkachuk.

  2. Keefe has been out coached every playoff series he's been in. If leafs management can't see that maybe they should be fired.

  3. I like it. He drafted really well and made more good trades than bad. I’m just scared he’ll make matthews the highest paid player. They need to trade matthews. You cannot wait till July 1 and give him all the leverage. The fact his contract doesn’t even allow for a week’s time to extend him is ridiculous. He got everything he wanted in the last contract and will want it again, and it’s simply not worth. He’s a point per game player. So is nylander. So is Tavares. None of them are worth 14 million. You cannot pay him millions more than Point, Stamkos , MacKinnon, Rantanen, Kucherov, McDavid,Draisaitl.

  4. wow.. dont know much about this guy… Is this a good move, do you think Andrew? Do you think he will just tow the company line?

  5. A lot of the champion pedigree in management is overrated. A lot of the GMs that win got gifted players or draft picks from previous regimes. Look at Peter Chirllei championship pedigree would never hire that guy he messed up Oilers pretty bad, Glen Sather, Ken Holland, etc… I believe a lot of the guys with championship pedigree are past their prime and things have changed so much in cap world what they have done in past no longer matters.

Treliving has an extremely good track record in trades, free agency and draft picks. I would take his track record over old washed up GMs like Chirelli, Sather, Holland

  6. Keefe needs to go. Too buddy buddy with the top players and doesn't have the balls to discipline them. Not to mention his between period speeches are absolutely pathetic

  7. What makes fans expect anything different in next years playoffs if we are keeping the coach and the core 4. Insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results. Smh

  8. Doesn’t matter if Keefe stays or goes. This new GM is good at: 1) not making the playoffs & 2) losing star players. Sounds like a typical Leaf choice.

  9. I think BT is a decent GM, the problem when he traded Tkachuk, was not with the players he got back, it was Sutter who seemingly got on everyones nerves, he made his own players dislike him. He was certainly no longer up to the job, and i think past his prime. The game has changed, Sutter didnt.

  10. So basically it came down to Dubas wanting to move on from the core 4 and trading one or two to be turfed. As the organization and Shanny rather have stars that sell merch and corporate sponsorship rather then building a winner.

  11. I don't really like this pick. I don't entirely blame him for the actual Tkachuk trade, but I do place blame on him for not creating an environment where he would have wanted to stay. I give the same criticism about Sam Bennett as well. Without either of these players, Florida would have probably lost to Boston, and if not, would have lost to the Leafs. If you wanted a Stanley Cup to ever come to Calgary again, these were the 2 top players to accomplish that and he made it unbearable for them both. You can't run your best players out of the city like that, which is what he did.

And while the Sutter situation wasn't entirely Treliving's doing, he is still partially to blame.

On the whole, I don't think his time with Calgary was very successful, and I don't think he has the skillset to do what needs to be done to make Toronto into an even better team. At the very best, being as charitable to Treliving as possible, he will be almost as good as Dubas. I think the reality will be much worse. I'm not very hopeful.

I also think the coach needs to go. We needed better puck movement in the playoffs, and I honestly would have liked to see him bring in Connor Timmins in game 3 against Florida. That was a big mistake. That could have opened up Matthews and Marner quite a bit. I also think we need a coach that has a sports therapy/psychology background who is known for strengthen mental well-being of their players to help the players deal with the stress in Toronto – dead serious about this. Rotating out players, hoping for them to be 'tough' is not a solution. Toronto is a circus and a total mess. You need a coach to help deal with this because it will never go away. I feel like the stress in Toronto started to affect Gio, O'Reilly, Shenn and others as well. If guys like that are effected, everyone in the world would be.

  12. Bergie would have been a better choice. All of the MC prospects are his players. He was steamrolled when he drafted Logan Mailloux but nobody is complaining now. He also drafted Cole Caufield and acquired Suzuki through a trade. He signed JackEye one month before he was fired and don't forget Joshua Roy. He is the reason why the MC had 14 draft picks in 2022 which would include Lane Hudson. And, Montembault seems to be progressing pretty well.
I am not saying he made zero mistakes but there is no doubt that the MC have an excellent future ahead of them because of Bergie.
He accomplished more than Dubas and Treviling with fewer talents in his team.

  13. How did Treliving let Johnny Godreau walk? Didn't Johnny want out of Calgary?

  14. The situation will be no different. Shanny is getting in the way. Until Shanny stops feeling the need to micromanage, nothing will change regardless of who the GM is. So here we go fellow leaf fans. Prepare for another 1st or second round playoff exsit.

  15. Come to think of it i like the idea of keeping what they have im looking at it this way its not because there a lossy team they need to bring up some young guys..The GM is there see what happens 🤔

  16. He didn't let gudreau walk. Gudreau strung them along when he wanted to go to the US. But if the leafs are running it back why fire dubas. So BT can just make the small moves? Because Shanahan hand cuffed him off the bat.

  17. Why is Shanny still here if he was saying ''OK'' to everything Dubas did? If so, he should have equal responsibility. He was the one who fired Lou to bring Dubas in and now when his guy is gone he gets to stay despite 9 years of failure you bring a guy who was in the exact same position and failed. He could have signed Tkachuk long-term but elected to give him a bridge deal to keep Frolik and Brouwer. Not to mention he didn't have any success in Calgary and didn't make moves to help them win

  18. Marner back, Keefe back…. I won’t be back, I’m done. This team is so unlikeable; the core 4 coming back is now proof this team is more about selling jerseys to 12 year olds instead of winning.
TJ Brodie was absolute TRASH in the playoffs! He was responsible for the game wining goal in both games 2 and 3 against the Panthers.

  19. Dubas had a stacked roster and infinite resources and Treliving didn't, so yeah Brad is a lot better than Dubas.

I get that this channel is just Steve Dangle fanboy page.

  20. Kind of wondering why you're announcing it before the Leafs say anything. At any rate, if it's Brad, then it's a lateral move from Dubas. Each one, like every GM, had their wins and losses. !st priority is to find out what Matthews is looking for on salary and term. Common knowledge he wants another 5 year term (Dubas foolishly gave him that length on his current deal), but what $'s? Anything over 13M is excessive in my view. Way Leafs operate, they'll just give him whatever he wants, and he knows it.

  21. Keefe needs to go. We need a coach who gets them ready for the playoffs and not another regular season game.

  22. Anyone doubting Treliving should look no further than attracting FA to Calgary which isnt easy. Top end Goalie Markstrom at good money, Tanev good defender(leafs need someone like), Kardi at very good money, Blake Coleman very good 2nd/3rd liner on a playoff team(which flames are, last year fluke with Sutter wrecking team). Also note on Tkachuk most GM would have lost him for ZERO, NOTHING, ZILCH! He was able to convince Tkachuck to accept trade and turn nothing in 100pt player Huberdeau, top2 defenseman Weeger who looks like refound his game and leadership at WHC, 1st and prospect…..no matter how it worked out last year(fluke year, time will tell) it is a masterful trade and if the leafs can pull off anything remotely close for Marner it should be done!

  23. It’s not the same course though. Kyle has his style of play players and tree has his.

  24. I don't have a problem with Dubas being let go — you could make the case that change was needed after the Montreal debacle a few years ago. But I'm not thrilled with Treliving at all. If you're going with a new GM, you need someone with pedigree. I hoped the Leafs would flex their MLSE muscle and spend big money luring an existing GM out of their role. I don't even know if that's possible. But Treliving is, at best, a lateral move. He spent a decade with the Flames and won 3 rounds. Plus, he built some bizarre teams that would win their division one year and then shit the bed the next year. This isn't the impact hire we needed — this was merely the most comfortable replacement. In this case, I would've opted for stability and continuity — and that's Dubas.
