  1. Im ok with it glad its not Bergeron or charillie im sure i butchered the names lol

  2. Wonder if spenza will join dubas in Pittsburgh sounds like dubas well be there gm next

  3. Hard to judge him on the takchuck trade have to wait and see how flames do this year with different coach

  4. Flames fan here,

Treliving was a decent GM. The good and the bad

    – Was stiff on contract negotiations (which is good and bad as it ultimately bit him with Tkachuk and Gaudreau).
    – Was hard working
    – Dramatically improved scouting
    – Great on the trade market (even given tough situations).
    – Terrible on the Free Agent market
    – No show at the trade deadline
    – Couldn't hold a coach for more than 2 seasons his entire 9 year tenure
    – Club never went anywhere under his tenure
    – Never tipped his hand (talked too much)
    – Boring media personality

Ultimately he moved on for one of two reasons.
    – The Sutter hiring was forced on him, which apparently was a common theme with this ownership group – I wouldn't blame him.
    – The Sutter hiring was HIS idea, including signing him to an extension and ultimately cost $8 dollars, an angry room, and no youth development at the NHL level. That would be enough to kick him to the curb.

    I wish you luck, Toronto.

  5. Toronto fans… Brad didn't do it in calgary and he won't do it in TO either

  6. Treliving deserves some credit for making lemonade out of lemons in Calgary!!! He was going to lose Gaudreau and Tkachuk and what does he do???? He brings in Huberdeau (over 100 pts in Florida) and Kadri (close to 100 pts in Colorado) and Weeger. We'll see the true value of those 3 players in Calgary this coming season.
The only error Treliving made was the long contract given to Huberdeau…at his age it was too much.
Let's see if Conroy can build the right team around Huberdeau, Kadri, Mangiapane et al this season. We'll know the true value by All-Star break.

  7. There's NO ROOM for cronyism in professional hockey……fastest way to destroy a team!!! Maybe owners wanted Sutter….if so that was their mistake!!!! Sutter was OK for a bit BUT he lost the dressing room and at that point he should have been shown the door.

  8. This is very interesting , indeed– Toronto Maple Leafs Hire Brad Treliving as New GM–well, he has his work cut out for him but a lot of talent to work with–we'll see how it goes–of course, the real test is in the playoffs (assuming the Leafs make the playoffs).

  9. I would roll the dice and trade Matthews before you don't have the ability to. Sure, he says he wants to stay, but if the Leafs don't meet expectations again, I expect he'll take his chances and leave. Who wouldn't?

  10. He is good at: 1) not making the playoffs & 2) getting star players to leave. Sounds like the perfect GM for the Leafs – no success.
