You can really tell guys love playing here when you have guys like Larry as Ozzy sticking around after retirement to be apart of the franchise going into the future no matter which position they hold in the franchise now. Couldn't picture being a fan of any other hockey team. So much history and greatness packed into one organization.
I loved Larry Murphy. One of the under rated players of those teams. I believe you were the only plus player in Toronto in =/- before coming to the wings. Led Detroit in the playoffs, the next regular season and again in the playoffs in +/-. I never did like the way you would just flip the puck high in the air to clear the zone. Too many young players try this with bad results.
It was Larry's dream to play for his hometown team. Until the toxic press and fanbase made him reconsider. Took all of a fraction of a second for him to waive his no trade. Keep this in mind Tavares.

I've been a Penguins fan since the late '80s, and Murph has pretty much always been my favorite player. I wore #55 because of him, played D (obviously) because of him, and even rooted for the Red Wings (on a secondary basis) because of him.

I was sad when fsd let him go I think because of his drinking but he must of turned it around cause now he's back
