From the point of view of a spectator, all I can say is there came a time when I felt better when Monty was in net than when Jake was. Not trying to run down Allen here, but I think, like you said, that there's a good chance he sees more starts than Jake next season. Take care, Chris.

i was a fan of steve penny as well,until something better came along.
ask yourself some questions: is monty a goalie that can win the habs a cup?
if primeau cant be sent to the ahl without clearing waivers,where is he going to play next year?
if primeau plays in the nhl,he needs 40 games no matter what he does.the habs arnt in it to win it are they?if he excells he takes the number one job away from monty.
thats called progressing the youth.playing a 26 year old goalie,that will be 30 when the window opens…isnt a viable option is it?
monty might be making 6 mil in 4 years,too much for a backup.
montambaults highest value is now,at 1 mil x 1 year.if hes signed to 3 x 3 his value is less.
he or allen will be traded.if not both,and primeau will play the bulk of the games next season.
is this fans prediction.

I always thought Montembeault had solid fundamentals, plus, he is big.
I don't know if he's a top starter but everytime he's in the net, he competes.
Monty has done nothing but improve since coming here and now with a World Gold Medal he should be number 1 this upcoming season.. he has earned it….glad to see USA choke and an amazing medal for Latvia and Germany getting the silver was great. Primeau is an AHL goalie not an NHL one and will soon be gone…

Montembault will be a solid backup goalie in the NHL
Plus you have a 20yr old Joe Vrbetic bouncing back and forth between the lions and rockets that should be a cracker goalie in a few years. I watched him play a ton in junior. 6'6" too.
He needs to get out of Montreal . They are a terrible team in front of any great goalie .
