Kent Hughes sure doesn't look like a rookie GM. I doubt Gorton was involved much in the negotiation. The coming draft will be his biggest test yet. So far his odds are pretty good.
Really happy for him, the Habs, and us fans. But it reminds me of how Canada has fallen behind in player development. 2 games per week, and 1 practice per month, for 6 months is just not enough. I'm not sure if things have changed but not so long ago growing up we were told lifting weights stunts growth, and protein powder was steroids. Hockey wasn't even the first sport for many of Americans in the NHL. They are athletes first.
The signing bonuses count, so he getting $9.75 million for the first 4 years. He just gets $5 million on July 1st in 2023 and 2024 instead of it being spread out over the season.
