Team morale and cohesiveness are rather important for a coach wouldn't you say.

I’m not defending the Jackets hiring Babs, but all of Johnny’s best seasons came under hard nosed coaches. 78 points in 79 games under Hartley, 99 points under Bill Peters, and then obviously his 115 point year under Darryl. I think the coaches that were more harsh are the ones Johnny played his best under
Given what certain players have declared about Babcock, he definitely the worst of the lot. His treatment of Modano, Commodore, Marner, Spezza, and others clearly shows that he's a sociopath — if not a complete and utter psycho-sociopath. I pity the Blue Jackets players.
Note — Babcock "won" a Stanley Cup with a team that he did not build, one that he had recently joined. He deserves very little credit for the Red Wings' cup victory. As for his international championships, Babcock (like the typical coaches of international teams of superstars) had only minimal impact or influence on those teams. The players won those international championships, and the man who was behind the bench just happened to be Mike Babcock.
