More comments from Ben Pope: The Blackhawks are deep into their draft preparations, having interviewed 65-75 players at the combine this week in Buffalo.
The #1 pick is obvious. I asked Kyle Davidson about #19: “We have a good sense of who we like, but who’s going to be there, that’s a huge question mark.”

Can someone smarter than me help me figure out what some good targets are for this?

If the Hawks are going to absorb a couple fat contracts, what gets traded and/or gained?

Do the Hawks offload some of the 2024 or 2025 mid round draft picks? Do they get some better ones back? What sorts of teams would be retaining some of the salary if we take the contract off their hands?

    I gotsta knoooooow

As expected. I hope we end up getting a Teuvo like the Canes did by taking on Bickell’s contract 7 years ago.

A first, a second, an NHLer for Petersen? Makes a lot of sense.

Boeser/Garland/Pearson, Mantha, Bailey, Matt Murray are the targets I can think of as I was looking into this yesterday. You could add Garland to that list but he’s got 2 years. I just don’t know what teams like WSH, NYI, PIT are gonna give up. They’ve been successful, not a lot of assets there.

Everyone knows about trading up to 11 with VAN. Which if we can fuck over VAN all the better lol. You’re gonna get Garland over Boeser and with Pearson LTIRetired, GMs don’t like that dead money.

TOR for MM: I’d target Fraser Minten. Center. 6’ 3”.

I really want the blackhawks to do something similar like the Flyers recently did.
