Good to know that there are people outside of Vancouver realizing now that Petey is an elite player and the stats prove it

(1st forward in blocked shots is Auston Matthews and the 3rd just behind Petey is Anze Kopitar, players who have been praised a lot for their defensive abilities. Selke nominee Mitch Marner is 103rd in blocked shots with 45 vs. Petey’s 89).

East Coast media be like “*But how does this affect the Maple Leafs legacy?!!!!*”

Between this and the Norris finalists I’m really interested to see the voting breakdown this year.

$12m+ contract for sure on his next deal.

Should’ve locked him up for less when we had the chance.

It’s 2036 and the corpse of Patrice Bergeron has just won his 20th Selke Trophy.

The Norris and Selke’s have always been lifetime achievement awards.

east coast media: I ain’t going to bed later than 10pm!!”

I truly believe that if the team weren’t bottom 3 defensively overall this season (maybe worst?), he’d get more attention for the award. People are saying east-coast bias and maybe that’s a bit true. In the last 10 years, the Selke’s gone to a western player 4 times, so that seems pretty even.

I think the storyline of “Canucks can’t play D” hurts him just as badly. I can’t think of many Selke winners on bad teams. The worst team to have a winner is the Flyers from 3 years ago with Couturier. It’s like how the Jack Adams award often goes to the coach whose team had the best goaltending.

We’re so screwed blew our shot at Bedard and any decent future! Sure peteys good but he’s one guy and apparently he’s afraid to even speak in front of the team. The culture is crap latest evidence is schenn trying to stay in toronto now because he wants to stay with a winner…if that’s not the biggest indictment against this team I don’t know what is. Sell the team!!!!!

It’s better for us if he’s not nominated. That’s more ammo for him to use in negotiations

  11. Feeling-Ad-7598

Yea, just ridiculous that no selke nomination.

  12. TheRealTollah

The league has never fairly acknowledged Canucks players for their achievements.

    Why would that change now?

  13. Podkolzins_a_Canuck

Such a joke. Hopefully when we get back into the playoffs regularly, these east coast fools start paying attention. Petey and Quinn are so much better than even a lot of Canuck fans give them credit for, let alone the leafblowers in the east.

Selke is a reputation trophy. I say that while acknowledging that Bergeron should probably be a first ballot HoF.

I remember hearing some crazy stat from his SHL season post draft where like half way through the season he had only been on the ice for 5 goals against or something crazy (I just made up that particular number)

Protect this guy and surround him with better teammates (defencemen) and he will lead to the cup.

I ain’t gonna say the voting is rigged but it’s rigged
