Goodbye lindholm?
Where is the love
Goddamnit. I think this is a big mistake.

I donāt know much about this man so I wonāt comment on him in particular. but Love absolutely needs a role somewhere on the flames team. Not only so he doesnāt fuck off somewhere else, but what would have been the point of changing regimes just to keep the fingerprints of the old regime there anyway
Hopium tells me that players like Lindy must be okay with this. Why would Conny hire Huska if he was an unpopular choice. Please let this be the case. And please for the love of god don’t let Love walk.
I, for one, am happy about this hire. Huska has always presented well with the media. He seems to have good ideas, and I think his deep understanding of the room and what went wrong will help him succeed and right the ship. He has really progressive ideas, believes in using young players and understands them better than most. But I think he’ll ensure we still have a good defensive structure.
He pretty much checks off all the boxes Conroy (and Bean and Maloney before him) talked about. Sure, this probably means they had him as their top choice from the start, but when Connie talked about these qualities, we approved of that hypothetical coach.
Five reasons that this is a good move:
1. Coach and GM are on the same page. These two have worked together and known each other for a long time. We all knew Huska was Controy’s first choice, if they are aligned then it is going to make the team better.
2. Huska has a strong existing relationship with the team having worked with them all before and been instrumental in the development of some key members of the core.
3. Huska has demonstrated strong coaching ability at the NHL level with his work in special teams. The players clearly bought into his system.
4. Huska has a strong resume of success as a coach at multiple junior and pro levels. Having moved up the ranks by virtue of his performance and his relationships is a good sign.
5. Huska being promoted means it is likely there will be other notable vacancies (ie Muller) in the coaching staff, making it possible to promote Mitch Love to the NHL level where he can get experience and establish his own relationships and connections. Would also love to see Tanguay in the fold after his performance at the WC.
When insiders were saying there was a lot of interest in Mitch Love, I honestly think that this was at the NHL level but not as a head coach. I think teams see an incredible development opportunity and hope Calgary takes advantage and keeps him in the fold. I know a lot of people are going to be disappointed that it isn’t Love, but this is a team that is trying to compete NOW and it can be hard to go with a rookie coach when that’s your mentality.
From what Iāve heard. Players really like him.
Huska makes more sense than Love given our teamās structure and his experience. Weāre in a window to compete, and a rookie coach is a big risk if youāre trying to be a competitor. I assume we bring Love up as AC and grow his talent from there.
People forget that Huska is the reason Kylington, Andersson, and Mangi are the players they are. He also ran our PK which was 5th last year and 3rd the year before. Iām excited to see where this takes us!
Love in as associate coach maybe? Needs a promotion to keep him in the org.
I’m not completely against this, sure I was hoping Love would get it but I feel Huska is the safe choice. I’m just praying Love stays with the organization either within the wranglers or as an AC role for the flames
This is the most mid selection and I’m ok with that
So another 17th place finish?
Itās a good hire. Donāt know why people are hating on him already
Although my personal bias leaned toward love he was very narrowly the second best candidate interviewed for the position, if conny believes in him I’ll stand by it
I wonder if Love is gonna get snapped up by a smart NHL team
So when this becomes official we’ll have no sub… awesome
Do head coaches hire assistant coaches or does the GM do that?
Mediocre organisation makes mediocre hire
Husk was in charge of the PK last season which was 5th best in the league. I am hopeful!
Meh
Guess the organization believes all the answers were already in the room
This is a good move but it wouldnāt have been my first pick just because I think the boys needed a completely new voice and not someone they already knew
I’m totally fine with Huska. I was all aboard the Love train, but I feel like the fact that Huska has been in the organization for so long is probably what won out for him. He’s got a little more experience coming into this job than Love.
