Hello again /r/stlouisblues,
Following [Reddit’s AMA about the coming API changes](https://old.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/145bram/addressing_the_community_about_changes_to_our_api/), **we as a mod team have decided to shut the sub down indefinitely starting on June 12th**. The AMA was meant to alleviate concerns but only amplified them, so subs big and small are deciding to shut down until further notice. We originally wanted to participate in the 48-hour lockdown to send a message while still leaving the community open to whoever decided to stick around. However, after Reddit’s AMA there is no other choice but to extend it until Reddit changes their current API plans. Reddit’s decisions are detrimental to their users and their moderators, the people who make their product what it is. Reddit is not acting in good faith, so we are stepping away.

Question, if there are changes made, will the sub reopen like it ever left? Or will we have to start a new blues sub? Also, any websites people will go to? The stltoday forum is too toxic because of basically one troll and they have no moderators. And I don’t know of any equivalent for hockey like football has with profootballsfutures.

I hope Reddit gets their shit together. The GDTs and intermission drinks, “fuck mark stone” chains, and fun conversations will be missed. It’s been a great ride my friends.
I’ve always used the Reddit app. Hell, I didn’t know there were 3rd party apps until this came about, but I support you all on the decision being made.
I enjoyed the past couple of years shooting the shit with everyone in the GDT and posts. There is where I get most of my blues information since I don’t have Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, so that’ll definitely be missed, thanks STLbooze for posting the majority of what I saw regarding that stuff.

Completely disagree. I don’t blame Reddit for wanting these third party apps to have to pay something.
Disappointed as I’ve always been an iOS app user, but I get it. It’s been a hell of a ride and I hope this is just a brief pause in the subs history. Technology and the various data rules are interesting. I still haven’t fully read up on what Reddit is doing (if anyone wants to explain it like I’m five), but I know there are a lot of back end data feeds to make the sub what it is.
Thank you mods for making this an enjoyable place for the past many years. We went blues!
Is there a Blues discord? Or anywhere else the fun GDT threads and discussions can go? If not, im sure gonna miss this place

Do what you gotta do. Protests are a beautiful part of our society and often the only option to get attention towards injustices. From what I’ve read, Reddit is certainly doing a disservice. Best of luck to you guys and thank you!
