David Savard Heads to Tampa in a Three Team Trade

Okay, the Bolts had no cap space, so they had to get creative.

  1. I am so sick of the NHL when all we can talk about is money money money

  2. Jarmo killed two birds with one stone by reacquiring past draft choices that were dealt. The third round pick that was picked up in 2022 makes up for the one that was sent to Winnipeg in the DuBois trade. The first rounder in 2021 makes up for the second round pick that was lost to Ottawa in the Ryan Dzingel trade. Elliott Friedman says the Jackets can pick up another first rounder for Foligno. If that happens, then all I can say is "well played Jarmo".

  3. Kucherov posted in his instagram himself practicing, which might mean he will be back before the playoffs start, thus his 9.5mill cap hit will also come back. What would Tampa do if that happens?

  4. David Savard on payday
    Tampa Bay: here’s some money
    Detroit: here’s some money
Columbus: here’s a bit more money
David Savard, the real winner of this trade

  5. It's kind of ridiculous that Tampa gets the best defenceman on the market. Like they weren't stacked enough already.

  6. Setting everything else aside: Columbus scored big. Two picks including a 1st rounder in exchange for carrying half a salary is a good deal even if this year's draft class is a bit light.

  7. Someone check on Steve yzerman. He’s acquiring way too many draft picks. It’s like he’s a doomsday prepper and he senses something coming. That sick bastard has a plan.

  8. I know all 3 parties agreed to this beforehand but after the 2nd trade, would it be by the rules for Tampa Bay to say I know all 3 parties agreed to this beforehand but after the 2nd trade, what if Tampa Bay just said "we are keeping Savard and the draft picks, yall got played"

  9. I just thought of this randomly but I am surprised you haven't done a Career video on Dan Boyle. Sharks legend, played on Team Canada, Stanley Cup Champion, undrafted, and a good offensive defenseman.

  10. Just get rid of the Salary Cap. It's outlived its purpose. Have a cap on number of contracts and have a cap on number of players with a salary of over 8 million.

  11. I keep THG open so I know what's going on in the hockey world. Its eeeeeassssy :))

  12. I think I figured how the three way trade occurred. Columbus was only willing to carry 50% of Savard's salary after they traded him to Tampa. But Tampa only had cap space to carry 25% of Savard's salary. Detroit could only carry a part of the remaining 25%. To make more room, the Red Wings needed to add cap space by trading away Lashoff. Tampa had just enough room to cover Lashoff's salary under the cap. So then, Detroit had cap space for 25% of Savard's salary. All three teams benefited from the trade. Tampa simply loaned Lashoff back to Detroit's minor league team. All three at cap space maximum, unless they trade additional players for draft picks, the Red Wings probably are maxed out under the cap.

  13. I'm waiting for the trade that includes a player's brother-in-law being given a job as a beer vendor.

  14. I hate to see Savy go, but I understand that’s the nature of the beast. And if you don’t want to be sellers, then you better be winning. I wish him nothing but the best.

  15. Why aren’t the hawks doing these hockey trades if they want to make the play offs they need to improve their defense. Way to go bowman!

  16. Stevie Y is da man! 4th round pic for nothing! (As a fan, I don't care about retained salary)

  17. He’s exactly what we need in an RHD. We gave up a lot, but it’s win now mode while this core is in their prime. The end of the window is almost around the corner so keep pushing for it and then we’ll endure the fallout when it comes. It’s going to be a rough fallout though.

  18. this move also sez a lot about how TB feels about what they already have in their pipeline … add to that that this coming draft is not "all that great" as far as high end 1-2 rounders that are projected to make a team out of their first camp.

  19. How did a first round pick even get involved in this whole entire trade??? Hahah

  20. This video would've been even more fun if you had known that Lashoff doesn't even go anywhere. He is staying with the Griffins unless Tampa's D is decimated by injury.
