Plenty of Franchises Newer Than the Canucks Have Cups

I have seen the comments lately regarding how embarrassing it is to see new teams competing for a Cup when the Canucks aren’t. Well, this conversation has gone on for a long time.

  1. The Bruins and Habs are responsible for screwing the WHA, because they didn’t want share their markets. Bruins did not want to share New England with the Whalers and the Habs didn’t want to share Quebec with the Nordiques

  2. I personally don't like the idea of Vegas winning the cup because of our rivalry, but I think it should show the Sharks what winning needs to look like and how to build a team. We got our shot, just couldn't get it done against the speed demon Penguins. I feel for Pavelski, Marleau, and Jumbo.. They deserve a cup.

  3. That 2005/2006 Canucks season was partially lost because they coukd not beat a basement dwelling St Louis that year. It was so weird

  4. It's interesting, Atlanta started out well in 1972 but flagged in the second half of the season. The Islanders had a very rough first year but steadily improved, eventually becoming a power house by the early 1980s. Atlanta did have a nice year in 78 but they lost in the first round. They did not really improve until the move to Calgary.

  5. Being a Canucks fan, it hurts year after year. But would i change a thing? Absolutely not

  6. It can't be all that bad for the Canucks. At least they own my Dallas Stars, currently….. 🙄

  7. Yah, the Nordiques had a good team, but the last piece of the puzzle for the Avalanche's Cup win was acquiring Patrick Roy. No chance in hell that Montreal (no matter how big the gun Roy had to their head was) were trading him to the provincial rival.

  8. More discussion on canucklehead mismanagement would've been nice, especially your thoughts on how/why they keep mismanaging during their bad years.

  9. Why do Canucks fans think no other expansion teams are allowed to win a Cup before them! Weird inferiority complex some of them have lol.

  10. As a Sharks' fan I've been depressed since 2016.
I don't see anything positive for quite some time now 🙄😒🙄😒

  11. Mike Gillis wrote the book on "How not to manage the Salary Cap".They have been in trouble ever since

  12. These methodical meticulous big picture discussions is why I subscribe to this channel. This guy outdoes on a daily basis many, many so-called professional hockey journalists.

  13. If Vegas wins it this year, George McPhee will laughing is ass off. We were all criticizing the Suzuki trade and then the Pacioretty trade and so many more that just felt like they were trading for the shiniest player available and then, because of cap problems, trading other players for nothing. While it's still a unhealthy habit, they're still winning that final

  14. So all we need to do is fold/relocate all the teams with the longest Cup droughts, then award those same cities with new expansion franchises to start from scratch — Within 15 years give or take, everyone should have their Cup. 🏆

  15. Such a lovely video, As a Canucks fan I do not appreciate the facts… damn you Vegas! 😢
