I’m not a GM and I refrain from trying to be an Armchair GM as much as possible.
But
Given his track record for neglecting young talent in favor of veterans, I can’t imagine how he’ll do with a roster full of young stars.
Seems to me like he’s monumentally unfit to lead a team of that nature, even if he’s been coaching for as long as he has *and* is the winningest American coach. Still seems like a round peg in a square hole.

Lavy is a good coach for a **healthy** veteran team. Our team was not healthy most of his last year, which should have made more space for the kids in Hershey (now playing for the Calder Cup) to get a lot of ice time.
And Lavy *studiously* refused to play them, which frustrated the fans because we knew our team was likely to miss the playoffs, apparently before he was. He’s a stubborn guy.
