Should we blow the team up and hold an expansion draft under the rules the Knights had?
randomj77
I’ve honestly mellowed on this somewhat. Credit is owed for the moves Vegas has made but also Vegas (and Seattle) have had an unprecedentedly favourable expansion draft. No other expansion team in NHL history had even close to the amount of talent that this last batch has had, and obviously many teams also made so many mistakes with the expansion process *cough* Florida so that helped too.
Obviously it fucking sucks that they win so early and we have not yet, but they also got dealt a nearly winning hand right away while we have definitely never ever ever been helped out in any way by luck or the NHL in general

Vegas’ management team is smart and ruthless and they deserve a Cup. Only 6 players remain from that expansion draft and the rest was hand built by McPhee with aggressive moves that worked.
*shrug*

Bettman won’t have to rig it anymore next season. AGENDA FINISHED!

I enjoy the city of Las Vegas so 🤷♂️

Only one VGK draft pick participated in the cup run.
The Canucks could take a lesson here. Maybe homegrown talent isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? Just go all in!

Get over it. Canucks haven’t had decent ownership since the Griffiths days.

Watch Seattle do it in 5.
SpectreFire
Also watching Seattle developing into a legitimate playoff team after just two years in the league, with a much better prospect pool as well.
RainDancingChief
We’d probably be looking pretty good with an expansion reset right about now too.
How much for Canucks 2 electric Boogaloo

Canucks have had THREE chances to win the cup. Can’t blame Vegas for winning on their 2nd attempt.

I get it, but I don’t know what time in the league has to do with it. In fact I would say that Vegas hasn’t had long enough to completely destroy themselves with long bad contracts and continue the cycle of pain trying to salvage the situation.
shadownet97
They were given a team of outcasts who weren’t exactly top tier players at the time and no one expected them to do anything.
They made it work. Loyalty may mean very little to Vegas management but they have every justification for it now.

The pain was already there and started a long time ago.

I mean, a bunch of their key players were literally gifted to them by Florida in probably the most blatant display of asset evaluation and mismanagement in the modern NHL. The lesson here is to avoid that.
Imagine telling someone in 2014 that a Pacific team beginning with a V would win the Cup in the next decade
DBCrapper
Good management will do that
BloodyQueefX
I accepted that Vegas would win the cup after game 4, so good for them I guess. This is the life we have chosen as fans of this trash tier team.

Gifted a head start by bettman, that’s my loadstone.

It does suck that teams of the past literally had to get players who no one in there right mind would ice while Vegas had a cherry of picking of players who had great potential but no room. Also shrewd moves by the GM also great ownership who allowed the GM to build the team and luck have it that a capable coach was available. This has changed the dynamic of how clubs will build a club and Aqua is either going to allow his GM do his job or we will sadly go into dark times.

I don’t care. It was obvious we failed to see we needed to rebuild and vegas amassed great talent and made good moves. It was obviously going to happen
canucksstanleycup
Proof that building a team takes at least 6 years. We need more patience for the Canucks.
Ktowncanuck
To be fair Vegas had it good for their expansion draft. This really does highlight how incompetent most management groups in van have been from day 1 though
djblackprince
This just makes me angrier at management and ownership for fucking up for decades rather than jealousy over the six year old team getting their first cup before us.

Gary is probably jerking off to this right now.
MRFINEWINE1
The Canucks senior advisor gave up the Conn Smithe winner for free. This organization is nothing but a complete dumpster fire.

Its rough. Once Vegas went up 2-0 in the series I stopped watching because I knew it was over.
I would have preferred a Dallas-Hurricanes final to avoid precisely this scenario, and it came down to this. Stupid playoff Bobrovsky so hot and then so cold in the finals.

Canuck fans must show their displeasure with their wallets. Don’t go to games and don’t buy merch. Otherwise, more disappointments are to be expected

Vegas toes the line between loyalty vs ruthless business. While they skirted closer to the latter more often than not, it works.
It’s business. Vegas knows this better than anyone else.

I think all we have to do to stay safe is [ensure we don’t hire anybody as misguided as Dale Tallon in a scouting or advisement role,](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/canucks-add-dale-tallon-as-senior-adviser-pro-scout-bolster-front-office/) and we will be fine
