[Elliotte Friedman]: Hearing NJ and Jesper Bratt are closing in on an 8-year extension with a $7.875M AAV. Do the math and it’s $63M — which happens to be Bratt’s jersey number.

LETS GO TOMMY FITZ GM OF THE MILLENNIUM

  2. sendingSTRENGTH

Thank god, at a more than reasonable number.

    Always trust in Fitz.

  3. xxfatpigxx

Lol juuuuuuust fitting it under that “no one makes more than Jack” rule.

Hell yea happy for 8 more years of JBITBPITNHL.

  4. snootchie_bootch

    LETS GO!!!!

Aside: I was always jealous of Pittsburgh getting Crosby on a steal of a deal due to superstition. Absolutely would love to have that luck here

  5. quantum_monster

Okay, I like that number a whole lot

    In Fitz We Trust

  6. chickenKsadilla

Don’t forget, this 8-year contract only goes until he’s 33. This is locking up an elite player for his entire prime and you do that every single time.

  7. Grawgar

I will be very happy with those numbers, assuming this turns out to be accurate. Now let’s lock up Timo!

  8. Nanojack

Yes, please. Then hear that NJ and Timo are closing in on an 8 year extension for anything less than 8.

  9. When the cap eventually takes a big jump in 2-3 years we’re going to have a great deal wiggle room. Or at least enough to comfortably fit Luke and Nemec deals. Great fucking news.

  10. Louxneauwytz

Thats what happens when your best players makes only 8m, its a tough job as an agent to negotiate a higher AAV than Jack.

With that said I am honestly surprised he re-signed, idk but over the past few years with his short-term extensions and hold out, I kinda already conceded that he was going to be a goner. I am happy to be wrong

  11. ZigTheGing

This. This is what I like to see.

The number is fair. The term is awesome and it keeps team continuity. Which at this phase of our team, is of the utmost importance.

  12. Fake-Death

6th round pick to a $63M payday, proud of you Jesper

  13. himynameissteve93

How fitz pulls this stuff off is incredible, he’s killing it and we’re gonna be set for a while. What a time to be a devils fans

FITZ YOU BEAUTIFUL FUCK MARRY ME WHAT A STEAL OF A DEAL

  15. nomorehome

Holy shit, Fitz got him full term under 8m/year. I love this.

  16. FloppyCanFly

This is a fair deal for both sides. Well done Fitzy

A well earned raise for my personal favorite player to watch.

  17. MaroonMarauder

And now with Bratt taken care of, it is once again Timo time. Let’s lock him up too and solidify a great foundation for years to come!

  18. IncreaseInVerbosity

Under 8 is insane. Fitz magic strikes again.

  19. scarlet_stormTrooper

Let’s fucking gooooo. Fitz waiting for the blackout to be over was masterclass

  20. aasania

I’ll be so glad when he’s finally locked up and we don’t have to go through this for another summer

  21. Kornja81

Now do Meier…. just don’t match the Jersey number unless he goes back to 28

  22. BlueBeagle8

    Hot 🔥

Fitz now has Hughes, Hischier, and Bratt all locked in for lower AAVs than Jacob Trouba, Bo Horvat, Nicklas Backstrom, or Patrick Laine, just to name a few cherry picked examples from around the Metro.

The man knows what he’s doing.

  23. adam7550

So happy about this but honestly going to be completely devastated if we don’t find a way to re-sign Timo. We should have the space for him still with Severson and some others off the books, right?

  24. Fun-Cow-144

Really happy about this getting done. Still not happy about his playoff performance. This pending offseason seemed to be in his head and he played without intensity nor laid it out like so many of his teammates.

  25. specifichero101

It’s so nice to be able to have full confidence in the GM. Extremely happy to have bratt locked in, guy deserves every penny and I hated the thought of having to trade him.

  26. Alphonse_Mocha

To everyone worried about re-signing Timo: the fact that Bratt just accepted a long-term deal under $8M significantly increases the ease at which we can offer an $8-9M contract for Meier.

  27. MountainBaker8217

I WAS ALWAYS A JESPER BRATT TRUTHER.

  28. Satans_BFF

    Sick deal!

It’s the same as the Fiala deal price wise. Fiala has been a bit better the past 2 years but he’s 2 years older, and the Bratt contract buys an extra UFA year.

These long deals that get locked up before the cap starts climbing are going to look awesome. Cost certainty on one of our top 6 forwards all through our window.

  29. HankPecker2024

    LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  30. mustachiolong

Now that’s a number and term that backs up what Bratt has been saying. It’s insane to me that we got him under 8M AAV.
