Boston Bruins are defiantly making the playoffs for the next 10 years. There stacked at defence and on offence, if only Marc Savard was 100% healthy they would be even better on the power play but I think he should retire since it will take him 1-2 years to come back to his original form.
The bruins NEEDED a blue line defenseman desperately to help quarterback the PP (especially with the inevitable loss of kaberle). Great pick. The fact that this kid even slipped to 9th in the draft was a steal.

I'm a leaf fan and I like kessel, but not gonna lie, I'd much rather a seguin, knight and hamilton. Those three would look wicked in the blue and white.
Anyone else think the Bruins should've drafted Ryan Murphy? I mean, I see why they didn't because Murphy is probably a god-awful defender, but they just won the Stanley Cup! So the way I see it, they could've just let him develop until he can play solid, physical defense and still be able to score from the backend. Then they have the best d-man since Bourque.
Seguin almost had as many points as Kessel in his second season, Hamilton is the uncontested #1 D prospect in the world and the 3rd/4th overall, and Knight just tops it off… 100% is a bit of an understatement. 🙂
I agree man. Kessel's trade value is no more then Tomas Kaberle's. This trade makes no sense from a Leafs prospective. They have Lupul and recently acquired James Van Riemsdyk, and also a steady forward in Mikhail Grabovski who are all arguably better all round players then Kessel and they didnt nearly have to give up as much for them. If the Leafs were smart they would deal Kessel for a solid Dmen today.
Nah, c'mon, let's be serious… Kessel is a hell of a player, it doesn't take much to admit that… I'm just saying the deal worked out very well for us. 🙂 The Leafs didn't know the two first rounders would be Seguin and Hamilton, if they were mid-round picks Boston would have lost big time.
Saw Hamilton play my Erie Otters tonight. The kid does everything right. He's the real deal. Probably one of the most complete defensemen in juniors. Potential superstar quality. He'll be fun to watch for a long time. Teach me how to Dougie!
very true, you never know whats gonna happen when you deal picks thats the risk you have to take. but coming from a leafs fan, after all those years of ponikarovsky on the first line, it was almost worth it to see this trade go down 😛
Well the Kessel trade just got a whole lot more interesting. On one hand the Leafs got the best player in the deal. Seguin didn't pan out the way Boston had hoped but they still get a good, albeit older, player in Eriksson. We'll see how Hamilton turns out. I think he will be a good NHL player. Not a franchise player, but a good player. He seems kinda quiet and isn't mean enough to play that intimidating role that other big defensemen play. I'd say pretty even trade.
