[Dreger] The Winnipeg Ice (WHL) have been sold to David White and will move to Wenatchee, Washington.

Also,

>The Ice originally moved to Winnipeg from Cranbrook, BC and a condition of the sale was a new facility in Winnipeg. That condition was never met.

Lets go! Wenatchee native here, currently we have the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) which the town absolutely loves, this will be a great addition.

Holy shit, let’s go new rivals! Congrats anyone that lives in Wenatchee

But I also feel bad for Winnipeg Ice fans

What’s going to happen to the Wenatchee wild of the BCHL? It’s cool we’re getting another team but I gotta wonder if it’d make more sense to play someplace like Eugene but they don’t exactly have the facilities for it.

I’ve always been really impressed with attendance figures for the Wenatchee Wild. Seems like that could be a very successful place for a team. Can see fans from all over the state making a road trip to see their teams play in Wematchee.

BCHL has left Hockey Canada. It will be quite a different league. They will now be able to recruit players from all provinces/states. They will be set up in a way to allow their players to still attend NCAA schools, not just Canadien colleges. I am thrilled to have another U.S. team in the WHL. Check out the BCHL site to read the details of the change.
