Bill Chadwick is a man of many achievements and professions. Originally, a highly touted prospect for the New York Rangers. Chadwick had all his NHL dreams stripped away by an errant puck hitting him in his right eye. Yet, Chadwick would eventually become the first American-born NHL referee, and brought a lively personality that got him nicknamed “The Big Whistle”. Chadwick was vocal, and even started the hand signals that we all associate with NHL referees today. After his retirement, he became the color commentator for the New York Rangers, and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for his exceptional contributions to the sport of Hockey.
