Nicklas Backstrom crosschecks Rich Peverley. April 17th 2012
At the end of the 3rd game of the series between the boston bruins and the washington capitals Nicklas Backstrom crosschecked Rich Peverley in the face getting a game penalty.
Let's hope, for his sake, that he wasn't intending to hit so high. It sort of looks like his cross check may have rode up the stick/arms of Peverley there, but who knows. Either way, stupid move by Backstrom.
the capitals are pulling all this bushleague bullshit…wanna see a physical team start throwing crosschecks your way? the caps wouldnt survive if the bruins stooped to their level…caps are pussies and they cant even win lol

Peverley was holding the puck against the boards engaged with 3 caps and Ovechkin came in and hit him in the back. It was no big deal, unnecessary though and Peverley didn't like him, so Peverley tripped Ovechkin and that's why Backstrom retaliated. Extremely stupid play by Backstrom though.
he will probably get a game but what about OV's cross check to the face of Seidenberg and Ashams cross check to the face then beating of brayden. Shanaban is was to inconsistent with his suspensions i mean Weber didnt get jack shit for what he did. This whole playoffs have been way to inconsistent with what is allowed and what isnt
Ovechkin tripped up Peverley too (I think he thought the puck was still there and was really trying to get it since they were losing). Yeah then Peverley tripped up Ovechkin, and both weren't that big of a deal.
Definitely an overreaction by Backstrom. I doubt he totally meant to crosscheck him in the face, but he made a stupid decision and now he'll face the consequences. If he did mean it that's a bad play, not just stupid.
I actually didn't see Ovechkin's crosscheck to Seidenberg (I dislike Ovechkin, so I'm surprised I didn't catch it :P), but the results of Asham's hearing hasn't been released yet, as far as I'm aware (same as Neal's).
what about tim thomas ounching a caps player after the whistle? then later kicking one? but thats not dirty? you guys have been cheap shoting our players, head-hunting backstrom . Looks like the same crosscheck Lucic dished out in the playoffs a couple seasons ago…that earned him a game. This should earn Backstrom a game too.
