I would never trade this guy..

OK Guys, there has been plenty of discussion already this off-season, about the surplus of defensemen in the Habs system right now. They already have plenty of left shooting defensemen in their system, and even with guys like Joel Edmundson possibly on his way out of town. They still have too many. What will the lineup look like to start next season? Will Arber Xhekaj play in the NHL? Will one of the young defensemen get moved in a deal?

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. We need to keep him, even if it’s just so we don’t play against him. If he was playing against the Habs, who would fight him? Pezz?? LOL! Even if he didn’t produce any points I’d keep him, and he does! So keep him, and play him on the second or third pairing.

  2. This is why I've stopped reading habs news 90% is pure speculation and bs why trade him when you have two guys in there 30s plus cost 2x more idk some people in this fanbase are brain dead but if they trade him it better be for a French player…

  3. I like Xhekaj, I'm just worried that he could hurt himself again. He got injured fighting. He will inevitably keep fighting. There's every reason to believe that he could experience the same injury again.

  4. Trade him? Hell no. I don't however see an issue starting him in Laval, playing top pairing minutes for the first third to half of the season, if the D cupboards are full in Montreal Especially if he was to end up as the 7th D, only getting in every other game, or every 3rd game. He would be better served playing every game in Laval, than every 3rd game in Montreal. 7th D slot is for guys like Wideman, not Xhekaj.

Edmundson will be gone, and I think you will see either Harris or Barron moved in the draft as Hughes works some of his crafty magic to move us up

That would leave Matheson, Savard, Guhle, Barron/Harris, Kovacevic, Xhekaj as the 6 with Wideman the 7th D

I don't see anyone in the AHL that would be able to step up and take one of those spots away from one of those 7, with the exception of Mailloux, if he gets to play (which I think is just a formality at this point).

Having said that…imagine a top D pairing in Laval of Mailloux and Xhekaj. That would be scary to play against!

  5. If Arber is traded, I'm done with the CH. I agree, Guhle and Arber are the core.

  6. Guy's like Wifi are what the playoffs are made for. Big and tough are what's needed in the playoff. That's why Toronto got past the first round this year.

  7. I really like Harris; however your point about his similarities to Guhle are right on point stylistically, the biggest difference is Guhle has a mean streak in him as well that sets him apart and increases his value. Xhekaj however brings an element we haven’t had in years, all those years playing Boston and getting pushed around we would have killed for a guy like this, and on top of that the kid can play hockey! He has to work on a few things, become more selective in who he fights and when, but I agree that it would be a huge mistake to move this guy. For what it’s worth I don’t think it’s a mistake that Hughes will make! Happy Father’s Day buddy, hope your boys and the wife spoil ya! lol

  8. I'm keeping him ,but I have total confidence in the management to do whatever needs to be done to better the TEAM GO HABS GO 💕

  9. Hockey Junkie: "Leafs fans hate him, Sens fans hate him, Bruins fans…."

Reality: Nobody outside of the city of Montreal knows who the hell this guy is.

  10. I mean his story is truly out of a movie aint no better fit for him than Montreal. The story just cant fit anywhere else. Can he play of course. But the story wouldnt be the same

  11. Disagree on Harris. He’s an exceptional human being, I’d be sad if we let him go

  12. Great video bro I totally agree love our boy ,only thing I say is barons the odd man out not Harris. Even though he's right side he's the guy who doesn't show the fight on boards and in front of net .

  13. My untouchables on defence are Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, and possibly Mailloux. Forwards: Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, and Dach.

  14. He doesn’t have to be the best D man doesn’t have to be the best fighter he just has to be the guy that other teams notice when he’s on the ice

  15. I would say arbie is fans favourite, cant even see reason why could some habs fans not like him

  16. Agree 100%. I'm offended anyone would even suggest he start the season in Laval or heaven forbid get traded. When we had Shea Weber my only regret was that e couldn't have had him in his prime. Well here we go folks we got us a young Shea Weber, maybe a little tougher even. With so many small skilled players you need a couple Xhekaj's around.

  17. Honestly, if a team is ready to overpay for Xhekaj, I’ll listen carefully. He’s not as tight in defense than people think.

I’m not saying I’m putting him on the market, but you have to listen to every offer.
