First Michael Andlauer purchased the Ottawa Senators for $950 million, and now Connecticut governor Ned Lamont is convinced that a Hartford-based investment group is likely purchasing the Arizona Coyotes from Alex Meruelo for $975 million, but next season, the Coyotes will play one more season at Mullett Arena in Tempe in the aftermath of the Tempe voters rejecting the city’s proposed $2.1 billion entertainment district. After that, a Hartford-based group will purchase a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Coyotes to Hartford if the Coyotes opt out of the remaining 1 year of their lease at Mullett Arena, so the Coyotes will then become the 2nd incarnation of the Hartford Whalers and play their home games at the XL Center in the 2024-25 NHL season. On December 7th, Baltimore Ravens majority owner Steve Bisciotti will purchase the Columbus Blue Jackets from John P. McConnell for $968 million. On January 11th, 2024, Steve will finalize and close out the deal to purchase the Blue Jackets. On May 20th, 2024, Steve will pay a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Blue Jackets to Baltimore, so after calling Columbus home for 24 seasons, the Blue Jackets will relocate to Baltimore to become the Baltimore Pharaohs and use CFG Bank Arena as their temporary home for the next 2 seasons until their new $1.15 billion 18,500-seat venue at 510 West Lexington Street is completely built and open in time for the 2026-27 NHL season.
