Doesn't make sense to risk wasting the pick on a 2C better off trying to trading up for mitchkov. Smith and Carlson will be star players but how much better are they going to be than suzuki (probaly the same reason they didn't pick wright, they already have a future point per game 1C in suzuki)
spot on…reinbacher is a waste of a pick for us at 5. If the habs stay at 5, they need to leave bridgestone arena with one of the top 5-6 most talented players at the draft. You HAVE to go bpa at #5
They have to be playing with our minds…Gorton/Hughes are way too smart to pick Reinbacher at 5th; it is not logical. IMO, if indeed they were to take Reinbacher at 5th, they would likely have to come up afterwards with a trade at the draft a bit like last year to appease the fanbase which would be quite upset at them. You just don't suffer a whole year to just end up with Reinbacher, a second paring defenseman. That is very upsetting just thinking about it !!!
If the Habs draft a defenseman, im beating someone!!! lol, I have faith, our management knows we dont need a defenseman, not at #5. Maybe with our 3rd pick or later, but Habs need to focus on scoring.
I don’t want us to pick Reinbacher. However, you are underselling his abilities. He is definitely a top 15 pick in any draft. I would be fine with selecting him at around 12-15th.
There are such good options for a RD at 31st. They will go for Leonard if Smith is gone and Michkov is not an option. I am ok with that. With their 37th I would try to get one of the top3 goalies.
S part of the process.. but trade up for #2 never happens.. I'll be there number 5 pick before they get #2 pick.. I'm 5'3" like 140 on a good day..lol. they need offense.. they are finally building some offense.. .. I'm with u not on D.R. hes not a 5 pick…

👀Things might get even more interesting. I was listening to a lot of podcasts and apparently they found out that some players in the Combine were controversial and will drop in the rankings but I can´t find anyone revealing any names. We might be in for a surprise.

He doesn't know 100% who'll get picked 2-4, , and if they trade up (or down) it likely won't be until draft night but that could possibly make different options. Habs want Fantilli, Smith, Leonard, Reinbacher, but they can only have one. There's defenseman in the draft, a couple right handed ones that could be available at 31st that are still decent prospects. I personally don't see a panic for a RD. There's potential in Mailloux and an interview with Bettman. Michkov supposedly said he's not interested in learning defense, he's being choosy which teams he'll talk to…two more strikes against him on top of everything else. Hab's management HAS to talk to Michkov if they can, it's their job to interview him. Doesn't mean anything, unless Michkov says, "I want a budget friendly long term contract with Montreal, I want to learn effective defensive play, be a team player, will pack on 20 lbs of muscle, be prince charming and keep my ego in check…" LOL Smith or Leonard. They are not picking a defenseman as an excuse not to pick Michkov. They're picking someone who can score a has a potentially strong 2 way game.
