I think the commentary is being too abrasive here. This is how hockey players actually talk and react when they’re not being asked questions by the public media NPR. This is exactly how Connor McDavid sounds when he’s asked a very honest question but it’s not going to get back to management of his answer. Players in the NHL don’t just training hockey they have to take courses and lectures about the importance of HR and branding. They have to do mock trial runs of how to do a interview and things you can and cannot say. Etc.
