  1. Love EJ and I'll never forget him and Mack immediately after winning the cup. He's one of my all time favorite Avs, good luck to him with whatever he decides for his future.

  2. Man, Calgary cannot seem to keep players around long-term. Unless they overpay for older guys like Kadri and Huberdeau. I genuinely feel bad for their fans. And now knowing Hanifin won't resign, Calgary loses some value in a trade.

  3. I thought that the NHLPA already had a program for financial planning for new players? Even at league minimums most players are making at least10x that of an average worker annually (if they stay in the NHL and aren't bouncing up and down to the AHL). Maybe not enough to last them the rest of their lives if they only play a couple of years but still a significant chunk of coin if they aren't complete morons with their money.

  4. Seems like places like Calgary, Winnipeg and Columbus all have similar issues holding onto players.

  5. EJ had a good career. I think it's time he retires. I was hoping he'd hang it up last year. They may have been able to keep Kadri. Whatever. Good career and good player. All the best EJ

  6. The NHLPA should have done this a long time ago. Thought that was one the reasons for existence

  7. Really sucks for Calgary. Sutter must've done a number on that team. That's like all their top guys gone in the span of 2 years. It just shows that having a successful hockey team in Canada is just impossible with current conditions. The only way to make it equal would be to have the cap higher for Canadian teams.

  8. the education requirement for some jobs is dumb, IIRC some middle of the pack guy that didnt get a degree and didnt make enough to live off once he retires stil would have learned valuable skills to do well at most jobs

  9. What the hell was the NHLPA doing beforehand? Just patting a guy on the back and wishing him farewell. Geez.

  10. I'd love to see the Avs get Lindholm out of Calgary. He's the perfect 2C imo. I was originally thinking Lindholm and Weegar for Toews and 3 additional assets (2 firsts and a top 6 forward? Though I'd think they'd want Newhook but hey, for Lindholm I'd probably do it). Though now with Hanifin wanting out, could that be the guy? I think he'd be too expensive for the Avs to resign but maybe not? The replacement for Toews probably needs to come in at around 6 mil per AAV or less.

Flames fans, provided the Avs had an agreement to resign Lindholm and Hanifin to reasonable extensions and the Flames had an agreement to sign both Toews and Newhook to reasonable extensions, would you make that trade? I'm thinking it'd take a 1st or a 1st equivalent to get that done. What do Flames fans think of that? Could be an interesting solution for both teams were both teams benefit by just looking slightly different… not sure either is really a step down… just different

  11. Hanifin, Backlund, Lindholm all potentially not returning its hard being a flames fan sigh

  12. I’ll really miss the Condor as an Av. Sure, his contract was far too high for the last few years, but he brought so much energy and passion to the team. I’ll never forget his contributions to the Cup run. If he doesn’t retire this offseason, I hope he comes back to retire as an Av.

    FLY CONDOR FLY!

  13. I love that idea for NHLPA to do perfect for those after hockey especially those with larger families.

  14. Hockey Guy. Do you see a Calgary Leafs connection taking place with former Flames players or trades?

  15. Calgary Has Issues, Like Van-City. The WIN! NOW Attitude hasn't Worked for Van-City either. Seems Montreal Building a team of Guys, that like to Go to Work is the New Norm. Martin St.Louis was supposed to be a temp Coach? Seems Players like to Play in Montreal again.. Sean Monahan!-Right!
