Did the real Mitch Marner finally show up in Game 4?

Heading into Game 4 there was a lot of attention on Mitch Marner and his lack of production. After scoring the game-winner, did the real Marner finally show up? How much did the Leafs’ defensive prowess factor into Joseph Woll’s performance? And what does Toronto need to do to continue their momentum? OverDrive host Bryan Hayes joins Jay Onrait to discuss.

  1. Marner was a beast so was Woll whole team played so good defensively and physically that's what we are going to need to get back into this.

  2. Hahaha these were lucky goals and had nothing to do with skill. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ These fucking "Analysts " are complete tools.

  3. They won because they took off their figure skates and used their hockey skates and hit engaged.Especially Marner had 4 hits first. Then scored. When has that ever happened . He worked hard and got rewarded and he'll wasn't that almost a fight he got in at the end of game The entire team hit engaged by protecting the goalie and it paid off .The goals will come .This is supposed to happen in your first game of the playoffs not an elimination fame in the 2 nd round..Woll was fantastic for Toronto to win this round he will have to steal a game for the buds. Its a head game more than ever let's see how Florida will respond..Florida was lucky it wasn't 4-0

  4. He scored a goal that tipped in. Just a lucky play. Otherwise he coughed up the puck constantly again forcing his teammates to block shots and defend against unnecessary shots against. Bailed out by his teammates who make much less

  5. I said 2 days ago the Leafs would WIN this game 2/1 .
And texted TSN with this line.
    And I was correct !
You guys were predicting a LOSS by the Leafs !
Looks like You guys don't know as much as You pretend to know !
    DML.

  6. Come on they one by one goal who cares if he canā€™t help carry his team heā€™s just collecting a pay check

  7. You guys sure set the bar low in Toronto. Marner was "hero" tonight? LMAO Why? Because he was lucky with a long distance shot? That makes him a hero?

A hero would be Mark Messier, who promises a win, goes out and scores a hat trick. Definitively. That's a hero. Marner, was lucky tonight. As was Toronto, but you'll figure that out soon enough. šŸ¤£

  8. Leafs defence need to show up regardless of who in in net. Separates a team who wants to win and a team who just shows up to collect a paycheque.

  9. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Marner had a good game. Make no mistake,. he is still a coward who will do anything possible to avoid any kind of physical play – and his teammates still need to hold him and others accountable. He got 4 hits… every one of them were against opponents who had their backs turned to him somewhat and/or off balance. Also, just the fact that he was hitting surprised the Panthers more than anything. Any physical play really found it's way to him, so he had no choice at times – like at the end of the game. Perhaps some teammates called him out like many keen-eyed fans. He did go to the harder areas more often in game 4, so I will give him credit for that as well. Let's see how this goes next game.

  10. I love Marner, but a few uncharacteristic turnovers and a shot thru while he is the last man back is not the player I've been waiting for..

I also realize that there is a whole other team targeting our top 4 guys..so it seens inaccurate to say anyone is 'missing'.. especially with Bobby in the other net looking more confident than I've seen a goalie play in awhile. (No one has doninated Matthews wrist shot like this)

And how many times are we going to watch Gio mess up and and his partner take the blame? Twice he lost his stick stupidly..yes..the broken stick off the faceoff was his fault.

    Toronto in 3..more

  11. Florida is not that good. Credit them for all they have achieved this far. But at some point, maybe bot this series, Bob is gonna fall off the wagon.

  12. That wasn't even close to the best of Marner, he's phenomenal when he's on point. He still had room to improve. I also wish he had a bit more grit.

  13. The Leafs had to become a trap team in order to beat the Panthers.
This is not going to work in the long run, because this style of play requires lucky bounces/breaks to score on the opponent.

  14. Yes they showed up and they got the job done .
Even if they don t come though on fri .. it wasnt a sweep ..

  15. His first period was not good but something inside him made him more confident. Maybe it was the brilliant time out. Mitchy can own the city if he wansts to. Go Leafs Go

  16. Who cares. So the Leafs finally decide to play 60 minutes when they face elimination. Notice how the Panthers have been playing 60 minutes all series long?

  17. To answer the title : the real mitch marner shows all playoff. The reality is: marner is not a consistent superstar who shows up every game.

  18. we didn't play well, the panthers played bad, they gave us shit tons of space to make plays and moves and we played in the offensive zone because of it

  19. Hayes and the overtime crew have their asses so far up the leafs ass. Couple lucky goals. And saying Mitch is a hero again. Whats the narrative going to be after they lose the next game?

  20. Marner is too easily intimidated when it becomes a mans game in the playoffs..and he play defense like a beer leaguer….

  21. For a change Mitch Marner had a good game. At $12 Million – he needs to play well every game. Where was Marner in games 1 to 3?
