I think getting Hellebuyck is an exciting prospect but I have fail in Fitz that he will keep his eye on the goal and not do a deal that sacrifices the long term success of the franchise. $9.5AAV is likely a little too rich

He has a higher GAA than Vanecek and the SV% is similar. Why would we sign Hellebuyck. Think ppl are overrating him massively
Think you meant *Faith in Fitz, but yeah, I don’t see him making any bad moves here. I also don’t see how we can possibly sign Connor without compromising on existing players.
I love the idea of him not the price tag. Love that we are a preferred destination for players who want to win now. Do not like the idea of players coming in trying to make more than the core. If he takes a pay cut and it’s less than any of the forwards I’m in. If not I don’t think we can do it
I don’t think this would be a smart move unless we have to give up nearly nothing
he has one year left right? i expect a huge cap jump next year once the players pay back the owners for pandemic losses. i don’t think a big contract, if negotiated next offseason, would necessarily handcuff the franchise. but id want a shorter (4-5) year deal not 7-8. 4 or 5 x 8 would be manageable and it would make us legitimate contenders if not favorites immediately.

I don’t think big names are the answer in net. Our defensive system blows and I don’t think we need a big name goalie until it’s steadier on the back end. I’d rather run it back with Vitek and Blackwood with Schmid taking the backup job when Blackwood inevitably gets hurt.

LeBrun never said the devils are Hellebuyck’s preferred team. Just that they are one of the teams he would sign an extension with.

I would love Hellebuyck, but not at a 9.5 million cap hit. If Helly is adamant about getting that kind of money, Winnipeg has to retain salary.
