    5. Donald Audette, Right Wing: 1989 9th round (183rd overall)
    4. Brian Campbell, Defenseman: 1997 6th round (156th overall)
    3. Christian Ruuttu, Center: 1983 7th Round (134th overall)
    2. Alexander Mogilny, Right Wing: 1988 5th Round (89th overall)
    1. Ryan Miller, Goaltender: 1999 5th Round (138th overall)

Opinion on most likely to join this list in the current prospect pool: Nikita Novikov. His 94 games in the KHL the last two years are fourth all-time among defensemen in the Russian league before the age of 20.

Honorable mention to Victor Olofsson? 7th round, 181 overall. (Don’t get me wrong, I want him traded. But 28 goals for a seventh rounder isn’t too shabby.)

Mogilny was only a “draft steal” because when he was picked Soviet players weren’t allowed to come over to play in the NHL. Mogilny’s defection opened that door for others. If not for that he wouldn’t have made it to the 5th overall pick, let alone the 5th Round.
