The MLS has a full round of fixtures in mid week and are back to a full fixture list this weekend after the international break. But, it’s a tough time for our St Louis City SC as they have only added 1 point from the previous 4 games and fell to back to back 3-1 defeats against Nashville & Real Salt Lake. It’s a tough one again for St Louis as they are on the road again as they visit San Jose Earthquake. Despite this, St Louis still sit 2nd in the Western Conference. FC Cincinnati are continuing to have a strong season. They are clear at the top of the Eastern Championship and will be looking to make it 8 wins from 9 as they travel to Wayne Rooney’s DC United. Real Salt Lake are a side on the up. They are moving up in the West and will hope to transfer their away form to their home field as they take on lowly Minnesota United.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup starts on Saturday, and this could be one of the most open tournaments that we have seen in a while. The USMNT, Canada & Mexico are obviously the favorites, but there is reason to suggest that there could be a surprise or 2 along the way. USA, coming off the back of winning the CONCACAF Nations League have chosen to rest the majority of their star names. This will give a chance for the next generation of US players to gain some experience. Canada are doing the same and are resting their start names, whilst Mexico are in total disarray and need to salvage some pride here. But the likes of Costa Rica and Panama will always be dangerous, and teams like Jamaica do pack a punch with a host of Premier League names. This could be a fun tournament and we will talk you through who we think will win.
