If Nylander isn’t signed by July 1st, should the Maple Leafs entertain a trade?

TSN Hockey analyst Jamie McLennan joins Jay Onrait to discuss the Maple Leafs’ options with William Nylander, if the Habs should be going all-in to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois, Elias Lindholm’s future with the Flames, the Taylor Hall trade and whether Erik Karlsson is a fit back with the Senators.

  1. Trade him to somewhere he be wanted like Vegas or he could always go back to SHL or KHL n play there

  2. Leafs don't have much leverage, so if they wait and sign Matthews and Nylander during the season, they will get hosed by the players again

  3. Nylander may follow Coach Spencer Carbery to the Caps. He had his best career season under this guy who was assistant on Toronto the past two seasons

Now new head coach for Washington

Carbery did a lot for the Leafs' offensive lines

responsible for Toronto's franchise record power play,

many think he's the wind beneath nylander's 40 goal, 80-something point season.

Alex ovechkin is making a serious playoff run sometime in the next two years, before his contract is up in '26

Caps have been quietly gearing up.

    I could see this happening.
Especially if we hear nothing in the media.

Toronto would be that stupid, to put carbery and nylander together, in the Eastern conference, to knock Toronto out of the playoffs. 🙄

They let Spencer carberry in for 2 years. And now they're in a position where he gets to coach against them?

  4. Everything is just speculation, rumors and bullshit. Nylander has said nothing because they cannot negotiate an extension until July 1.
