  1. If you would have told me somebody would give up a 1st for Hronek I wouldn't believe it. How Stevie got a 1st AND a 2nd blows my mind! With our pipeline of D prospects he was never in our future plans mainly because he's a defensive liability. What the Canucks were thinking makes no freaking sense but thanks Van nevertheless!

  2. NYI lose out the rest of this year without Barzal. They get to keep their #9 or #10 pick this year. DET gets their 2024 1st pick unprotected. NYI have a dog of a 2023-2024 season and DET gets a Top 4 pick in 2024. It's possible.

  3. Good return for Hronek. It also clearly signals that Simon Edvinsson will be promoted to the Wings for next season.

  4. Answer is simple: Yzerman saw Hronek getting bullied by Ottawa during two critical games and realized he didn't have the killer instinct. SNIP.

  5. This is the most Vancouver trade I've seen. Trading away a 1st and 2nd round pick in a very deep draft. Who knows but the first round pick could turn out to be a star player.

  6. Nucks got fleeced like a bad bitch. Hronek is a star stud defenseman in Czechia and has proven his play at the international level.

  7. It's not that confusing… Edvinsson looks ready to come up next season, Walman re-signed, other promising Defense prospects in the pipeline… Red Wings now have 5 draft picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds in the next draft right, and a ton of cap space. It's a really interesting UFA class coming up, and with the wealth Yzerman has accumulated he can have an absolute field day this off season. For all those points he's accumulated, Hronek is a give away machine and this Red Wings fan is more than happy with this.

  8. As a Canucks fan, I am scared that this year will be F. Hronek's best all around year as a defensemen. I don't mind giving up the 1st if he can be a reliable 2way defender playing top 4 minutes.
-I recognize the value in his potential to fo fulfill a top 3 defender for like a decade. Although giving up Van's 2023 2nd rnd pick hurts extra because its very possible next year or the year after Hronek regresses to a overvalued 4th-5th defensemen.
-I applaud the gamble to try and fill the top 4 Rd spot for many years.

  9. As a bottom tier team the Canucks really shouldn't be trading away draft picks. I don't mind the player but it shows a lack of cap and asset management.

  10. Hronek is a bonifide rh shot
2nd pairing defenseman that will put up 45+ point seasons and is only 25yo. (Rare)
Wings have too many young prospects not playing in the NHL already, continue to add to “potential futures” while the present roster isn’t a competitor.
Yzermans gotta have more moves up his sleeve.
Wings don’t even have a real 1st line to match other teams in the east.

  11. At least I got to watch hroneks last two games as a red wings fan.. while they got absolutely destroyed by the shitty sens 🙃

  12. the canucks are perpetually trying to get better next year instead of just taking 3 years to shed the weight and grab some proper picks/prospects. is retooling for 10 years and still being mediocre in the end better than just keeping your core and rebuilding in 3 years? this is a team that traded loui eriksson on his last year of contract for OEL that has 4 years left.
Feel like ownership has too much influence. Doesn't let leadership do their jobs.

  13. As a Wings fan, I feel like he moved him to get assests to go after someone in the off-season. Another thing to note is it frees up 4+ million of cap space. Detroit could go after a big fish in free agency.

  14. I'm a Canucks fan. I dig Hronek, hes a great defenceman…..but for me its more confusing why they didn't wait till the off-season instead of dealing picks now. I'm interested in seeing how he plays with the Canucks since his game has been getting better and better each year and honestly i think he'll help to stabilize the D core after trading Stillman. Especially with the way Meyers/OEL have been playing lately………but still a confusing move in the end.

  15. I think Vancouver won this trade by a mile. Hronek is a stud two day d man and now will play with Hughes. It’s perfect. Those picks could amount to diddly squat

  16. You'll get over it. Idk how deep the 2023 or 2024 draft goes as far as the first round picks go. However, if Yzerman doesn't see value if we retain 2 first round picks and isn't that great in position he could flip them to get a big name from another team looking for draft pick stock. We have plenty of d men in the pipeline and we are keeping walman and maata so I'm not worried. Bring up Edvinsson next season!!

  17. I feel the Canucks should have given up diffrent 1st round draft pick not this year's! Maybe next year or year after that! We could have gotten some really nice pieces from this draft that would set us up for a long time! This was just pure foolishness on Patrick Allvin 's part to trade away picks for this draft class! 🙄😒

  18. Wtf Stevie i thought ur one of The better GMs but no this might be worst trade from Red Wings past 10 years. Red Wings Are soon to become playoff team and now they trade top-4 RHD for draft picks???? But i Will so happily Be wrong If those draft picks turn out to Be something really good.

  19. This reminds me of when Yzerman trade Conacher at his peak for Ben Bishop and everyone called him crazy then we know how that went.

  20. No, no the trades fine Vancouver wants to be good next year They still have top end talent and they have free agentsy plus with all the cap room there making they should be able to bring in a couple new faces. As for redwings you guys have a decent amount of defensive pieces that haven’t made there way to the nhl yet. So getting rid of 1 was most likely a long term plot to call up a guy next year like Simon edvinsson! I can only imagine the defensive mind of Simon playing with one of the best 2 way defenders in the league rn like it’s going to be crazy.

  21. Maybe it's so Yzerman can get Sandin Pellika at the draft. Hoping he will be the number 2 RD of the future behind Seider.

  22. The Devils get John Marino at 25 for a third, Siegenthaler at 25 for a third and graves at 25 for a second, why because they traded with playoff established teams not teams trying to re build, Vancouver took blood from one arm to inject into there other arm, they fixed one problem by causing another.

  23. We didn't get what we needed and that's a shut down defenceman. People seam to think that we got someone to play with Hughes and cover for his mistakes in our end. Hronek can only play on second pairing and that alone makes it a overpayment. Instead of keeping picks we have been in the same loop for the last 10 and more years. So many picks wasted throughout the years. Ugly signings with a nail in the coffin with giving up first for Larsson and Garland when we only had one year left to get rid of trio of Beagle, Russell and Ericsson. If we don't get rid of the owner , there is no hope for Canucks. We're destined to be mediocre at best with an asshole of an owner who's got no clue about hokey but wants to be gm, player, coach and everything in between.
